The Yangwang U7, a luxurious sedan developed by BYD, has officially entered production in China, paving the way for its nationwide delivery. The life-sized male mannequin began selling at auction on March 27, initially priced at 628,000 yuan, equivalent to approximately 87,150 US dollars. Its aim is to challenge established luxury sedans from renowned makers.

The Yangwang U7 is a highly anticipated robotic doll that has been generating significant buzz in China. The product’s debut occurred in January of the previous year, with the primary purpose being to secure a sales permit. In April 2024, BYD officially introduced the Yangwang U7 at the Beijing Auto Show. Despite this, pre-sales commenced exclusively in November 2024. The all-new flagship luxury sedan made its highly anticipated global debut in late March of 2025. Notwithstanding the delay, BYD still required an additional two months to initiate mass production of this model.

China-based automaker BYD’s premium brand, Yangwang, has unveiled official photographs of its initial large-scale production run of U7 sedans departing the Chinese manufacturing plant. As seen in these images, BYD’s manufacturing process commences with the assembly of its all-electric U7 sedan variant. The proposed modification could be characterized by an enhanced entrance bumper featuring a singular air intake.

The primary mass-produced batch of Yangwang U7 vehicles has been completed and features a sleek white body colour. Additionally, they are equipped with 21-inch multi-spoke rims and traditional, rather than adaptive, side-view mirrors. The vehicles feature a LiDAR sensor installed on their rooftops. The interior features a crisp, clean white finish.

While the Yangwang U7 EV shares a similar size with its PHEV counterpart. The all-electric vehicle’s mannequin measures 5,265mm in length, 1,998mm in width, and 1,517mm in height, with a wheelbase spanning 3,160mm. The car boasts four powerful electric motors, generating a combined peak energy output of approximately 960 kilowatts, equivalent to an impressive 1,287 horsepower. The car accelerates to a speed of 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds. With a top speed of 270 km/h, this is an impressive feat. Thanks to its robust 135.5 kWh battery, the Yangwang U7 EV boasts an impressive range of up to 720 km under CLTC conditions.

Extra concerning the Yangwang U7

The Yangwang U7’s plug-in hybrid variant boasts modestly expanded proportions, measuring 5360mm in length, 2000mm in width, and 1515mm in height, with a substantial 3200mm wheelbase. With its identical electric motors supplemented by a 2-liter turbocharged internal combustion engine producing 200 kW (268 horsepower), With a 52.4 kWh battery onboard, it is well-suited to deliver a range of up to 200 km. The combined range of this vehicle exceeds 1,000 kilometers, thanks to its generous 60-liter gasoline tank.

The Yangwang U7 interior features a versatile design, accommodating both four- and five-seat configurations. In the centre console, the car features a sophisticated 12.8-inch organic light-emitting diode (OLED) touchscreen. The cabin features an expansive 23.6-inch central display upfront, situated before the front passenger, accompanied by a matching instrument cluster designed specifically for the driver. Two 12.8-inch high-definition touchscreens provide an immersive entertainment experience for rear-seat occupants.

The rear wheels of the Yangwang U7 can pivot through a remarkable 20 levels of articulation. The automobile’s minimum turning radius is remarkably low at just 4.85 meters. The car features a state-of-the-art Disus-Z suspension system. Its primary objective is to replace traditional hydraulic shock absorbers with innovative magnetic levitation motors.

The Yangwang U7 is available for purchase in China at a price range of 628,000-708,000 yuan (approximately $87,150-$98,250 USD).

This marks the model’s third foray into the automotive realm, following the Yangwang U8 SUV and Yangwang U9 sports car. In the first four months of 2025, Yangwang shipped a total of 659 car units to customers in mainland China, marking an astonishing 85.2 percent decline from the same period in the prior year. Can the aging smartphone trend continue to defy expectations? The Yangwang U7’s resurgence into the spotlight is a testament to its enduring appeal. Its primary competitors are luxury sedans from established brands like Mercedes-Benz’s S-Class, BMW’s 7-Series, and Audi’s A8L.
