Xiaomi YU7 hits 13 Beijing stores & GBA Auto Show this week

Xiaomi officially announces the release of its highly anticipated YU7 smartphone, which will go on display at 13 Beijing stores starting May 29 and expand nationally to 92 cities across China in June. The corporation clarified that these showcases can be closed-door events, where guests are unable to enter the vehicle; this ensures an “extra full product experience” when the car officially launches on the market.

Along with the YU7 showcases, Xiaomi confirmed its participation within the 2025 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Better Bay Space (GBA) Auto Present, which can run from Might 31 to June 8 on the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Conference Centre. The prominent automaker is set to dominate Sales space 06 in Corridor 6, where visitors will have the opportunity to witness its comprehensive product range on display, including the SU7 sedan, SU7 Extreme, and YU7 SUV models.

Measuring 4,999mm in length, 1,996mm in width, and 1,608mm in height, the YU7 presents itself as a premium giant SUV, boasting a substantial 3,000mm wheelbase that ensures exceptional stability and maneuverability on the road. Patrons can choose from nine unique exterior colours in addition to the exclusive options of Jewel Green, Titanium Steel, and Lava Orange.

Underneath the surface, the YU7 is driven by Xiaomi’s bespoke V6s Plus electric motor, leveraging segmented magnetic technology to optimize performance and efficacy. While all three trims – Commonplace, Professional, and Max – share the same basic motor design, each distinct variant generates a different performance profile, depending on its specific characteristics.

The Commonplace RWD model accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 5.88 seconds, boasting a peak power output of 235 kW and a 96.3 kWh LFP battery that enables an impressive driving range of up to 835 km on the CLTC cycle. The Professional AWD model slashes the 0-100km/h time to just 4.27 seconds, albeit with only a minor reduction in range to 770km due to its dual-motor configuration.

The Max AWD Efficiency model takes top honors, featuring an impressive 0-100km/h time of just 3.23 seconds, alongside its 508kW peak output and substantial 101.7kWh NMC battery, enabling a range of up to 760 km.

Within its sleek design, the YU7 boasts an innovative “Hypervision” panoramic screen and a 6.68-inch rear management display. The all-new vehicle features an Nvidia Thor chip-powered Advanced Driver-Assistance System (ADAS), along with a standard LiDAR component for enhanced safety and convenience.

As the YU7 prepares for its July launch, Xiaomi is poised to challenge the status quo in China’s competitive electric SUV segment, with its sights set on top contenders like Tesla’s Model Y and Nio’s ES6. The corporation has kept internal details under wraps, emphasizing potential surprises linked to HyperOS or autonomous technologies. Xiaomi’s latest flagship, the YU7, remains shrouded in mystery regarding its pricing and availability, with CEO Lei Jun refusing to confirm or deny speculation surrounding a purported starting price of 199,000 yuan (approximately $27,500 USD).

Huawei and Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC) are teaming up to develop a new electric vehicle (NEV) brand.

A federal judge has reportedly cleared the way for Tesla to settle its battery technology theft lawsuit with Rivian. According to sources familiar with the matter, the electric vehicle manufacturers have agreed to a confidential settlement that puts an end to the dispute. The lawsuit, which was filed by Tesla in 2020, accused Rivian of using stolen trade secrets and intellectual property to develop its own electric pickup trucks.
