On May 23, Chery’s X3 and X3 Plus electric SUVs were unveiled by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), reportedly a rebadged version of the iCar 03T. The iCar 03T premiered in August 2024, boasting a price range of 139,800 to 149,800 yuan (approximately $19,400 to $20,800 USD), available in rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations with respective certified laboratory test cycle (CLTC) ranges of 501 kilometers and 520 kilometers.
The Cherry X3 and X3 Plus take on the favored SUV? boxy form. The Chery X3 measures 4,327mm in length, 1,910mm in width, and 1,715mm in height, boasting a wheelbase of 2,715mm, with two curb weight options at 1,903kg and 1,827kg. The Chery X3 Plus measures slightly larger at 4,380-4,406/1,916-1,910/1,741-1,715 mm overall, boasting a 2,715 mm wheelbase for enhanced stability and maneuverability. The curb weight of the vehicle is approximately 1,722 kilograms. The fashion styles employ a distinctive departure angle of 26° to 28°, with corresponding tire specifications including 245/55R19 and 225/60R18 models.
As an electric vehicle, its front façade is sleekly sealed, featuring a pair of symmetrical T-shaped LED headlights. Black thick bumpers adorn both the entrance and rear of the vehicle currently. The rear options also feature an exterior storage compartment, typically found on off-road SUVs, bearing the Chery English logo prominently.
The innovative features of this vehicle now include hidden door handles, a side-entry tailgate that adds to the overall practicality, and roof-mounted baggage racks for effortless storage. The optional configurations encompass a variety of rim styles, panoramic sunroofs, high-resolution cameras, front and rear parking sensors, and distinct bumper layouts.
All fashion models are equipped with a powerful 185 kW (248 horsepower) electric motor, specifically the 112AD3 variant, capable of reaching a top speed of 150 kilometers per hour. The Chery X3 Plus is equipped with a 68.355-kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery pack from Gotion, boasting an estimated range of 520 kilometers under China’s CLTC testing cycle.
In April, the iCar 03 series recorded a remarkable 1,158 unit sale, driving its 2025 cumulative gross sales to an impressive 5,734 models, accounting for 17% of iCar’s overall gross sales and a mere 0.6% of Chery Group’s total gross sales.
