Mazda’s all-electric EZ-60 SUV is currently undergoing rigorous testing on Chinese roads, a precursor to its official launch in August, which signals the brand’s entry into the country’s burgeoning electric vehicle market. Preorders for the mannequin surged past 20,000 units within just three weeks following its world premiere at the Shanghai Auto Show. This could potentially catapult it to a position among the fastest-selling joint-venture electric SUVs in the Chinese market.

The EZ-60 boasts an array of cutting-edge features, including a 4nm cockpit chip engineered for power-efficient performance and seamless integration with over 1,700 advanced cockpit capabilities. The Fisker Ocean also features a groundbreaking 100-inch naked-eye three-dimensional head-up display (HUD), leveraging advanced eye-tracking technology and innovative light-field projection to seamlessly integrate essential driving information directly into the driver’s field of vision. The high-definition display can transform into a captivating 3D entertainment spectacle whenever the vehicle is stationary.

The cabin features a 26.45-inch floating center display. The display boasts adaptive dimming technology to enhance visual clarity and measures a slim 9.5 millimeters in thickness, complemented by narrow 6.4-millimeter bezels.

The EZ-60’s sleek aerodynamic profile features nine strategically placed air ducts and nineteen precision-crafted vents, resulting in a remarkable 60.8% reduction in wind resistance. In response to the corporation, this estimate translates into a projected variance of approximately 41 kilometers. The sleek design features exterior components, including aerodynamic wing-inspired air ducts, dual-tone digital side mirrors with housing, and an efficient D-pillar design reminiscent of eco-friendly vehicles. According to Mazda, this configuration produces an impressive 705 Newtons of downforce at freeway speeds.

Changan Mazda has extended its successful “Golden Deposit” programme, allowing customers to benefit from a longer duration of this incentivising offer. Patrons can secure the EZ-60 by paying a 10-yuan (approximately $1.40 USD) deposit, which will increment daily until the device is fully booked and sold out at the final purchase price.

Production is slated to commence in the third quarter of 2025. Pre-orders for the new model are available via Changan Mazda’s official channels, including their website, mobile application, and authorized dealerships. As the EZ-60 gains traction, industry watchers are keenly assessing whether this initial momentum will sustain, as Mazda strives to solidify its position within China’s burgeoning electric vehicle market.
