It’s official. Toyota is finally introducing a brand-new electric vehicle (EV) to the US market. The Toyota C-HR is set to make a comeback as a budget-friendly electric SUV. Here’s our first look at the 2026 Toyota C-HR, a surprisingly stylish EV boasting nearly 300 miles of range.

Unless they’re specifically seeking a futuristic-looking subcompact crossover with a bold design and quirky styling cues. The subcompact crossover, previously offered at a price point under $25,000, was discontinued in 2022 to clear the way for the environmentally conscious Corolla Cross hybrid model.

The Toyota C-HR is poised to make a triumphant return to the US market in an all-new electric guise, boasting an impressive estimated range of approximately 300 miles on a single charge. Toyota has officially announced that its electrified subcompact crossover, the C-HR, will make its debut in the United States after being unveiled in Europe earlier this year.

Beyond the “+”-adorned identifier (C-HR+) on its Japanese counterpart, the US and European versions of the C-HR share an uncanny resemblance. The electric model represents a significant step forward from its gasoline-powered predecessor.

Toyota has revamped its model with a contemporary redesign that echoes the aesthetic of its fresh Corolla and Crown models, boasting a modernised appearance. Toyota’s smaller SUVs feature a distinctive “hammerhead” entrance design, capped off by sleek LED headlights that accentuate their bold character lines.

The Toyota C-HR EV measures 177.9 inches in length, 73.6 inches in width, and 63.8 inches in height, comparable to the Kia Niro EV’s dimensions of 174 inches in length, 72 inches in width, and 62 inches in height. The Corolla Cross is slightly smaller than its sibling, the bZ4X SUV, measuring 185 inches long, 73 inches wide, and 65 inches tall.

Equipped with a 74.7 kWh battery, Toyota anticipates that the 2026 C-HR will boast an impressive estimated range of up to 290 miles on a single charge. Enabling it to seamlessly integrate with Tesla’s extensive Supercharger network via an NACS port. The DC-quick-charging feature of this electric SUV enables a rapid recharge from 10% to 80%, accomplished within approximately 30 minutes.

Toyota will offer its 2026 C-HR with a range of powertrain options, including an all-electric EV, hybrid, plug-in hybrid PHEV, and gasoline-powered variants. The all-new electric SUV is expected to hit dealership floors across the United States by 2026.

Toyota unveiled its all-new C-HR just a day after introducing its innovative bZ electric SUV to the US market. Toyota is retiring the ‘bZ4X’ moniker and upgrading its electric vehicle with notable enhancements, including a longer range of up to 314 miles, a standard NACS charging port, and more.

Although Toyota hasn’t revealed pricing details, estimates suggest the C-HR will likely begin around $35,000 due to its smaller size compared to the bZ4X.
