Nissan N7 EV sets a new record in China, securing over 10,000 orders in 18 days

The modern electric sedan is launching with a bang. Nissan unveiled its all-new N7 electric vehicle (EV) to record-breaking success in China on Thursday, securing more than 10,000 orders within just 18 days.

Nissan’s popular N7 electric vehicle has got off to a flying start, with over 10,000 pre-orders already received.

Nissan’s joint venture with Dongfeng, announced on April 28, has reportedly kicked off strongly for its newly launched electric vehicle (EV).

Following the launch of deliveries on Thursday, Dongfeng-Nissan announced that its inaugural dedicated electric vehicle, the N7, garnered a remarkable 10,000 pre-orders within just 18 days, setting a new record for the fastest-selling jointly developed pure-electric vehicle in the industry.

Priced from just 119,900 yuan, or approximately $16,500 in China, the N7 makes its debut. The Long-Range Pure Electric variant is equipped with two LFP battery options: 58 kWh or 73 kWh, allowing for a range of up to 540 km (335 miles) and 625 km (388 miles), respectively, according to the CLTC driving cycle. While sharing a common platform with the Dongfeng 007, the N7 boasts a familiar yet uniquely refined appearance, distinctively showcasing Nissan’s iconic “V-Motion” design aesthetic.

Nissan’s electric sedan boasts a slightly lengthier profile than its competitor, the Tesla Model 3, measuring in at 4,930 millimeters long, 1,895 millimeters wide, and 1,487 millimeters tall.

Despite its understated exterior, the interior boasts a surprisingly minimalist design while still being equipped with impressive technological features. A 15.6-inch 2.5K central infotainment system transforms into a mobile home entertainment hub for the ultimate driving experience.

The vehicle also features Momenta’s cutting-edge “high-end intelligent driving system,” touted as the company’s top-tier innovation. This advanced technology provides enhanced safety and driving capabilities, including real-time navigation assistance, urban memory-based navigation support, and comprehensive scenario-based parking automation.

Unlike traditional Nissan vehicles, the N7 offers several pleasing upgrades, including a practical heating and cooling system.

The all-electric Nissan N7 EV is available in five trim levels, priced between 119,900 yuan ($16,500) and 149,900 yuan ($20,500), offering a range of options for potential buyers.

Although the N7 has shown initial promise in China, Nissan is racing against time to demonstrate its resilience globally as it struggles with declining sales and profitability? The Japanese automaker has abruptly scrapped plans to construct a novel lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery manufacturing facility, instead opting to lay off approximately 15% of its global workforce in an effort to mitigate financial strains.

Meanwhile, BYD and other prominent Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers continue to gain significant market share not only in China but also in crucial overseas regions such as Southeast Asia, where traditional leaders like Nissan and Toyota have historically held sway.

The Nissan Sylphy N7 electrical sedan values by trim are as follows, according to the supply from Dongfeng-Nissan:

* Standard: ¥123,800 – ¥143,800
* Premium: ¥153,800 – ¥173,800
* Luxury: ¥183,800 – ¥203,800

By the end of its inaugural week, BYD acquired more than 10,000 units of the Qin L Electric Vehicle (EV). The midsize electric sedan made its debut on March 24, with a starting price of ¥119,800, equivalent to that of the N7 model.

The Nissan N7 must first gain a foothold in China’s electric vehicle (EV) market, which has become the world’s largest, before it can meaningfully compete with established players like BYD.
