On April 16, BYD’s Fang Cheng Bao (FCB) model unveiled its newest all-electric compact SUV, the Tai 3, in China, available across five trim levels with a price range of ¥133,800 to ¥193,800, equivalent to $18,200 to $26,400 USD. The Tai hardcore collection occupies a pivotal position below FCB, with the Tai 3 serving as the primary model offering rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) options, alongside an elective Lingyuan clever vehicle-mounted drone system, which is further augmented by BYD’s “God’s Eye” C superior driving assist technology.

The BYD Tai 3 is built upon the e-Platform 3.0 Evo+, featuring a high-torque 20,000 RPM motor, an intelligent All Terrain System (iATS) that dynamically adjusts driving modes according to environmental conditions – from grass and sand to mud and snow – and a TSC system ensuring stability in the event of a tire blowout by lifting affected wheels to enable independent driving on other wheels. The car can travel at a constant speed of 80 km/h for up to 30 kilometers without interruption.

The DiSus-C Clever Damping Physique Management System seamlessly integrates on board the Tai 3, mirroring the functionality of CDC variable damping shock absorbers, where digital management valves precisely calibrate the damping characteristics.

The standard specifications for the Tai 3 measure 4605 mm in length, 1900 mm in width, and 1720 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2745 mm. The variant equipped with Lingyuan’s on-vehicle drone system has slightly altered dimensions: 4605/1900/1930 mm, maintaining the same 2745 mm wheelbase. The curb weight is approximately 1,995 kilograms.

The “God’s Eye” C advanced driver-assistance system is enabled by a robust combination of 12 cameras, five millimeter-wave radars, and 12 ultrasonic sensors, enabling more than 30 sophisticated assisted driving features, including parking assistance, obstacle avoidance, and autonomous freeway navigation – as certified by the official.
