The longevity of electric vehicles is poised for a resurgence. Nissan’s next-generation LEAF has been spotted testing in the US, providing our best glimpse yet of the upcoming electric vehicle.

Nissan’s next-generation LEAF spotted undergoing rigorous testing in the United States.

Following its introduction in 2010 as the first mass-market electric vehicle, the Nissan LEAF won over many drivers with its affordable starting price and smooth handling.

Fast forward 15 years, and almost every major automaker now has a comprehensive lineup of electric vehicles (EVs). As the LEAF struggles to maintain its edge in a market now dominated by newer, more advanced electric vehicles with extended ranges, faster charging capabilities, and cutting-edge technology.

Nissan is poised to make significant changes. The Nissan LEAF is poised for a comprehensive update, with indications suggesting a full-scale revamp is on the horizon.

Following a 12-month hiatus in production at its UK facility, Nissan is poised to unveil a fresh wave of electric vehicles.

The electric vehicle manufacturer’s primary focus is expected to centre around its next-generation LEAF model. Nissan is revamping its iconic LEAF model, seeking to modernize and inject fresh energy into a revamped design that embodies the latest technological advancements and sustainability trends. Nissan unveiled its Chill-out concept in 2021, providing an early glimpse into the brand’s design direction and technological advancements.

According to insiders familiar with the new electric vehicle (EV), Nissan’s forthcoming next-generation LEAF is poised to transform into an SUV-inspired coupe rather than maintaining its traditional hatchback design. The ARIYA’s compact counterpart was likened to a “mini-Ariya,” echoing the features of its larger electric sibling, the Nissan ARIYA. Notwithstanding its larger size, the new crossover is expected to adopt a smaller, more athletic profile compared to the Qashqai and Juke models.

Recently spotted testing in Michigan, the next-generation Nissan LEAF made a quiet debut. The newly revealed picture from shows off its bold, crossover-inspired design.

While the camouflage conceals its true appearance, the design subtly diverges from the standard LEAF, adopting a sportier posture and more streamlined silhouette.

As of spring 2025, Nissan is expected to begin production of its latest LEAF model at its UK facility. What sparked this phenomenon’s emergence and initial acclaim remains unclear?

The Nissan LEAF’s new look is a sleek, aerodynamically-optimized design that features a more aggressive front fascia with a sharp, chiseled nose and a distinctive V-shaped grille. The smooth, flowing lines of the bodywork are accented by a subtle spoiler at the rear, while the LED headlights provide a bright, modern glow. Will the mini electric vehicle experience a resurgence as an SUV-inspired compact car? I will improve the text in a different style as a professional editor.
