BMW partners with AirConsole to deliver casual video games to its EV displays next year

The BMW Group has formed a strategic alliance with AirConsole, a leading gaming platform, to seamlessly integrate engaging online games onto the curvaceous displays of its cutting-edge BMW vehicles. BMW is introducing a new innovation that allows gamers to immerse themselves in video games within the car’s infotainment system, enabling drivers and passengers alike to utilize their smartphones as game controllers.

Today, in a press release, BMW Group announced that it has partnered with AirConsole through its BMW Startup Garage program, serving as a business development unit for early-stage startups. The BMW Group’s Startup Validation Program connects startup founders who have successfully completed accelerator programs with key decision-makers within the company to drive business growth.

Starting next year, BMW drivers will have access to AirConsole’s extensive library of video games directly through their vehicle’s infotainment system, enabling easy installation and over-the-air updates.

Drivers will have the option to engage with various single-player and multiplayer games on their smartphones, serving as controllers for the 2023 BMW EVs’ curved displays. Gamers simply scan a QR code displayed on the BMW’s screen to connect their gaming device, after which they can start playing seamlessly.

The Senior Vice President of a BMW-related firm, Stephan Durach, discusses the newly formed partnership between his company and AirConsole, shedding light on its implications for future electric vehicle (EV) drivers.

By harnessing cutting-edge technologies in tandem with a diverse array of engaging and multiplayer games, we’ll unlock the full potential of AirConsole. Does this make the various stages of a vehicle’s readiness, akin to charging, a delightful experience?

BMW appears poised to revolutionize in-car entertainment by integrating curved EV screens with the versatility of dynamic smartphone features, launching a cutting-edge, wireless “console” for its drivers to rival EV manufacturers like Tesla, which already offer comparable online gaming capabilities. Anthony Cliquot, CEO of N-Dream, exclaimed delight at integrating video games into the cockpits of forthcoming BMW vehicles.

We’re thrilled to pioneer in-car gaming experiences with BMW, driving innovation forward through the development of immersive entertainment options. Our innovative infrastructure seamlessly integrates with our platform’s entrance, revolutionizing how people enjoy themselves on-the-go.

None of BMW’s upcoming electric vehicles (EVs) will initially come equipped with AirConsole’s online game catalog, as this information is subject to change and further clarification is needed regarding their integration in 2023.
