2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid set to arrive in mid-2025

Subaru has revised the timeline for its forthcoming Forester Hybrid, marking its inaugural application of a hybrid powertrain to its popular US-market crossover SUV.

Subaru unveiled the Forester Hybrid at the 2023 Los Angeles Auto Show. Non-hybrid Subaru Forester trim levels hit dealerships in early 2025 as model-year ’25 vehicles, while the hybrid variant is expected to arrive at the end of next year as a 2026 model.

Subaru’s website has recently updated its inventory to include detailed descriptions of each model, making it easier for customers to compare features and specifications.

Get ready to rev up your off-road adventures with the all-new 2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid – a game-changing ride that combines rugged reliability with eco-friendly efficiency.

What’s under the hood? A potent 2.0L 4-cylinder engine, paired with an electric motor and advanced Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive for seamless power delivery on any terrain.

Whether you’re tackling rocky trails or navigating city streets, the Forester Hybrid’s advanced safety features – including adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and sway warning – keep you protected and in control.

Step inside, and you’ll be greeted by a spacious cabin with premium materials and cutting-edge tech. With its sleek design, impressive fuel economy, and unstoppable performance, the 2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid is poised to dominate the SUV scene – are you ready to join the revolution?

While Subaru promotes its all-electric Solterra in the US market, having discontinued the Crosstrek Hybrid after the 2023 model year, it does not have an electrified offering in this segment since then? While the Crosstrek Hybrid effectively merged Toyota-sourced components with a Subaru boxer engine and all-wheel drive technology, it is indeed a true plug-in hybrid.

While rumors intensify about the Forester Hybrid, prototype sightings suggest it’s likely to employ the “Sturdy Hybrid” powertrain unveiled in the Crosstrek Hybrid’s latest iteration for Japan’s market last year. The subtle hints at Subaru’s new badging fail to explicitly mention a “plug-in hybrid” designation.

Subaru Sturdy Hybrid powertrain

In its native market, Subaru’s hybrid offering relies again on Toyota-supplied components and a 1.1-kilowatt-hour battery pack, combining with a Subaru 2.5-litre horizontally-opposed four-cylinder engine and standard all-wheel drive technology. Subaru has its own hybrid system, similar to Toyota’s well-established Hybrid Synergy Drive, which likely features parallel and sequence hybrid modes. However, specifics on Subaru’s implementation remain unclear, as the company hasn’t disclosed how much of the technology it developed versus what may be sourced from Toyota.

AC power output in Subaru Strong Hybrid

Subaru’s innovative Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD) technology now converges with advanced hybrid powertrain to produce the impressive AC energy output in the Subaru Sturdy Hybrid.

In the Japan-specific Crosstrek Hybrid, Subaru includes an AC accessory outlet that can be used to cook meals at a campsite or power outdoor equipment.

With the combined output of 246 horsepower, this hybrid powertrain delivers exceptional acceleration and performance. Subaru has stated that it anticipates a 20% reduction in fuel consumption for the Crosstrek Hybrid, accompanied by a two-second improvement in its 0-60 mph acceleration time. While specific details on the extent of the improvement are scarce, Subaru has only confirmed for the US-bound Forester Hybrid that it will boast improved acceleration compared to its non-hybrid counterpart.

Toyota and Subaru are reportedly exploring a potential partnership to co-develop electric vehicles (EVs). As part of its plan to achieve 50% electric vehicle sales by 2030, Subaru is set to launch a second jointly-developed electrical SUV in 2026, one of four new EVs it aims to introduce by the end of 2028 alongside the Solterra and Toyota bZ4X.
