Volkswagen launches the 2024 ID.6 Crozz, a fully electric SUV.

The ID.6 Crozz is a product of FAW-Volkswagen’s joint venture, manufactured in collaboration with the Chinese automaker FAW. Launched in 2021, the Volkswagen ID.4 marks a significant milestone as the brand’s largest electric model in the region.

The FAW-Volkswagen joint venture is among the two prominent partnerships in China, alongside SAIC-Volkswagen. When Volkswagen introduces a brand-new model, various companies manufacture and market it under distinct monikers. FAW-Volkswagen produces the ID.4 Crozz and ID.6 Crozz models.

Meanwhile, SAIC-Volkswagen markets the ID.4 X and ID.6 X models. While the ID.4 is a global model, the ID.6 has limited availability in China, with no global rollout planned at this time.

The all-new 2024 Volkswagen ID.6 Crozz has officially debuted with a starting price range of $35,500 to $46,200. While the exterior design remains largely unchanged, subtle refinements have been implemented to further optimize aerodynamics on the skin of this latest model.

Consumers have four exterior colour options to select from: blue, orange, gold, and white. Additionally, a premium colour upgrade is available for an extra $272. Purple has been discontinued.

At 192 in. lengthy, 72 in. broad, and 66 in.

The ID.6 Crozz stands at a comparable height to the Atlas, measuring 201 inches in length. L X 78 in. W X 70 in. H).

The interior boasts a comprehensive suite of displays, featuring a 12-inch heart-rate monitoring screen, a 5.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and an augmented reality (AR) head-up display. While the majority of buttons have been removed and relocated to the management display screen. The vehicle’s advanced MOSC 4.0 system has been upgraded to seamlessly integrate voice commands and online navigation capabilities, enhancing overall driving experience and convenience.

Passengers can be accommodated in seating configurations ranging from 2x2x2 to 2x3x2, allowing for a maximum of seven occupants. Here’s the improved text:

According to the FAW-VW website, the 2024 ID.6 Crozz is now available with a limited-time discount of up to $6,200 (45,000 yuan).

Shortly following FAW-VW’s temporary cost-cutting measures for the ID.4 Crozz, which concluded earlier this month, the launch arrives with an all-new starting price of $20,060 (145,900 yuan). Volkswagen further slashed costs on its ID.3 model in China last July, a move that contributed to a significant boost in gross sales.

Electrek’s Take

While the ID.6 has just launched in China, whispers are circulating that the Atlas-sized electric SUV may soon arrive on American shores.

Volkswagen’s representative revealed that, while no definitive plans have been announced, it is “thinkable” that a variant of the ID.6 could make its American debut. As the demand for three-row electric SUVs persists in constructing its momentum.

Several major automotive brands, including Toyota, Kia, and Hyundai, as well as luxury electric vehicle manufacturer Lucid, are set to release electric vehicles (EVs) capable of accommodating up to seven passengers. They will compete directly with existing models already established in the market, similar to how the Rivian R1S and Tesla Model X are pitted against each other.
