Recently, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released detailed specifications for the locally manufactured Volvo EX90, an all-electric SUV boasting a maximum range of 730 kilometers. Five trims have been officially announced to date. The project’s anticipated debut date is forecasted for 2025. The Volvo EX90 represents the fully electric iteration of the popular XC90 luxury SUV, boasting a sustainable alternative to its gasoline-powered counterpart.
The five China-made Volvo EX90 trims boast dual-motor four-wheel drive and are matched with 111-kilowatt-hour ternary lithium-ion battery packs, providing options for a range of up to 710 kilometers or 730 kilometers under the Chinese Laboratory Test Cycle. The battery weighs 663 kg.
Each trim has a distinct curb weight: 2732 kilograms, 2751 kilograms, 2764 kilograms, 2745 kilograms, and 2780 kilograms. The maximum speed is typically recorded at around 180 kilometres per hour.
- Here is the improved/revised text:
Entry-level trims feature a 173 kW (232 horsepower) front electric motor and a 127 kW (170 horsepower) rear electric motor.
- Propulsion system highlights include a powerful front electric motor delivering 241 horsepower at 180 kilowatts, as well as a robust rear electric motor producing an additional 268 horsepower at 200 kilowatts.
The preceding flagship trim levels boast an impressive 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 4.9 seconds, while their rapid recharge capabilities allow for a swift refill from 10% to 80% in a mere half hour.
Based on the declaration images, the vehicle’s design adheres to that of its international counterpart, showcasing features such as a shutter-like front fascia, an illuminated logo, discreet door handles, and signature C-shaped rear lamps. The distinctive tail badge on Volvo’s vehicles in the Asia-Pacific region proudly proclaims its status as a locally manufactured model for the Chinese market.
An energy-efficient grille can be seamlessly integrated to optimize airflow and boost effectiveness. Some trims boast striking dual-color body designs. The optional configurations comprise 21- and 22-inch wheels, along with headlight washers and privacy glass.
The Volvo EX90, built primarily on the scalable SPA2 platform, boasts dimensions of 5037mm in length, 1964mm in width, and 1747mm in height, with a wheelbase measuring 2985mm. The XC90’s current length measures 84 mm more than its existing counterpart on the market.
The cockpit’s interior seamlessly extends the Volvo household’s design ethos, featuring a layered dashboard that harmoniously integrates the air-conditioning outlet with a prominent 14.5-inch vertical central management display screen and a comprehensive full-featured LCD instrument panel. The interior configuration is expected to feature an entry-seat heating and ventilation system, a high-quality air detection system, and advanced Stage Two driving assist capabilities.
