Lucid’s (LCID) Twitter account fired back at Jaguar following a sneak peek of the British automaker’s new ultra-luxury electric vehicle prototype. As Jaguar gears up to debut a succession of premium electric vehicles (EVs) boasting price tags exceeding $100,000, the luxury brand’s reputation for opulence takes on a new dimension.

Lucid takes aim at Jaguar’s latest luxury electric vehicle (EV) model, firing back with a series of jabs that challenge the British automaker’s claims.

Here is the rewritten text:

The luxury automaker Jaguar has unveiled a tantalizing teaser image of its forthcoming Design Vision Concept, offering a sneak peek at its highly anticipated ultra-luxury electric vehicle (EV) lineup.

The preview reveals a sleek, high-performance-inspired mannequin that exudes the essence of a luxury sports car. Nevertheless, one thing’s lacking. Like the Polestar 4, Jaguar’s forthcoming all-electric vehicle is poised to forgo a rear windshield. The trend will likely shift towards a virtual reflection.

In the final week, Jaguar gave us an early glimpse of its inaugural luxury model from its forthcoming electric vehicle (EV) lineup: a four-door Grand Tourer. The photographs showcase a radically distinct design deviating significantly from traditional Jaguar models. Jaguar’s new electric vehicle (EV) lineup boasts a bold presence, featuring expansive front and rear bumpers, chiseled wheel arches, and sleek, fluid lines that command attention on the road.

Jaguar’s latest design direction promises to unveil bold styles and confident silhouettes, as hinted at by its striking rear design.

Jaguar has unleashed a cryptic teaser image on social media, accompanied by the enigmatic phrase “Copy Nothing”, a nod to its visionary founder, William Lyons.

Compromise Nothing

The preview sparked a frenzy on social media, with even Lucid Motors capitalizing on the hype by issuing a cryptic tease about Jaguar’s forthcoming luxury electric vehicle.

Lucid countered with a visual reveal of its Air Sapphire, touted as the “World’s first luxury high-performance sports sedan.” In a subtle nod to Jaguar’s “Copy Nothing” mantra, Lucid responded with an equally bold declaration: “Compromise Nothing”.

As Jaguar gears up for a transformative era, the luxury car manufacturer unveiled a fresh brand identity on Tuesday. As part of its commitment to sustainability, Jaguar is poised to transform into a fully electric brand, introducing a cutting-edge ultra-luxury electric vehicle (EV) range boasting price tags exceeding £100,000, or approximately $130,000. Expected to rival Lucid’s Air Sapphire and the Porsche Taycan in terms of performance and luxury features. Compared to other electric vehicles on the market, Lucid’s Air Sapphire starts at around $250,500.

Lucid’s high-performance electric vehicle has left many of its peers in its dust, including the Tesla Model S Plaid, Porsche Taycan Turbo GT, Bugatti Chiron, and Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye.

The Sapphire boasts a staggering 1,234 horsepower and 1,430 pound-feet of torque, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just an astonishing 1.89 seconds. Can Jaguar compete? During Miami Art Week on December 2, we’ll learn more about Jaguar’s new Design Vision Concept.

Electrek’s Take

As Jaguar sets its sights on expanding into ultra-luxury electric vehicles, Lucid is taking a different route, instead. The electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer is pioneering innovative technology that’s spearheading a significant reduction in costs.

While Lucid isn’t poised to disrupt the market with a budget-friendly electric vehicle, such as a $20,000 EV, the company does intend to diversify its lineup with several more affordable models.

Lucid has recently teased its highly anticipated midsize electric SUV. Tesla CEO Peter Rawlinson has revealed that the new midsize model will have a starting price range of approximately $48,000 to $50,000.

Rawlinson has predicted that when it launches, Lucid will “grow to be a Tesla competitor head-to-head.” However, he believes Lucid’s midsize SUV is “massively higher than a Tesla Model Y” in terms of quality and luxury. While many have likened Lucid to Tesla, the EV maker views itself as more comparable to German luxury brands like Mercedes-Benz and Porsche.

The Lucid brand initially focused on premium fashion, much like its forthcoming Air and Gravity SUVs, set to hit production lines later this year. Notwithstanding its technological superiority, which is “years ahead” of the competition, this allows it to produce cars at an additional reasonable price.
