New Tesla Model Y vehicles with design refresh spotted in China
SHARE

Tesla Model Y prototypes spotted with camouflaged wraps in China, hinting at an impending design update.

Following the Mannequin 3 refresh’s successful launch last year, industry anticipation is now focusing on the impending refresh of the Mannequin Y model.

The report emerged last year claiming that Tesla had a Model Y refresh, dubbed Juniper, scheduled for 2024.

Later, according to a Bloomberg report, Tesla is planning to launch a refreshed Model Y in mid-2024.

Tesla puts shutdown rumors to rest. Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk has quashed speculation surrounding the Model Y, stating that there are no plans to refresh the vehicle this year. It’s worth noting that both Tesla and Musk explicitly mentioned “this year” when addressing rumors about a potential Model Y update.

Many assumed that an update was imminent, but it seems they’ll have to wait another year or so.

As we noted earlier this summer, sightings of camouflaged Tesla Model Y prototypes began popping up around California, offering a glimpse into the electric SUV’s upcoming refresh. More recently, a leak revealed several new design features that will be making their debut in the updated model.

Recently, Chinese battery supply chain reviewers predicted that production of batteries would commence in the first quarter of 2025, while an update issued earlier this week indicated that Tesla will initiate pilot-scale manufacturing operations this week.

A number of new Tesla Model Y prototypes with camouflage wrapping were spotted in China this week.

The Mannequin Y’s upcoming launch is expected to introduce refreshed front- and rear-end aesthetics, in line with recent camouflage sightings.

According to leaks, the interior is expected to feature design updates similar to those in the brand-new Model 3, including a new ambient light bar, which has already been confirmed. The latest revelations have further substantiated reports of a distinctive crimson accentuating the gap between the vehicle’s taillights, adorned with a prominent ‘Tesla’ logo emblazoned upon it.

Tesla is poised to unveil a novel seven-seater variant of the Model Y in China.

Recently, Tesla’s new vehicles usually enter production at its Gigafactory in Shanghai, and that appears to be the case again this time, but the Model Y refresh is expected to be a global rollout.
