Mazda officially debuted the Mazda EZ-6 on October 26, unveiling a groundbreaking mid-size sedan built upon Changan’s innovative EPA hybrid platform. Prices range from 139,800 to 179,800 yuan (approximately $19,630 to $25,250), spanning seven fashion options. The EZ-6 offers both fully electric (Battery Electric Vehicle or BEV) and range-extending (Extended Range Electric Vehicle or EREV) configurations.
The EZ-6 adheres to Mazda’s distinctive “Kodo” design philosophy, characterized by the separation of its headlights, LED daytime running lights, and a subtly lit Mazda logo. Two newly introduced colors, “Moon Gray” and “Radiant Gold”, incorporate cutting-edge nano-grade pigments to elevate their aesthetic appeal.
The EZ-6’s sleek design features a distinctive fastback silhouette and a retractable ducktail spoiler, which extends at speeds above 90 km/h to enhance aerodynamics. The EZ-6 measures 4,921 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,485 mm in height, boasting a 2,895 mm wheelbase, offering greater space compared to Deepal’s SL03 and L07 models.
The EZ-6 boasts a 14.6-inch infotainment display, a digital instrument cluster, and a 50-inch Augmented Reality Heads-Up Display (AR-HUD), providing an immersive driving experience. The self-contained cabin is equipped with a cutting-edge Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 processor, seamlessly integrating features such as real-time local weather forecasts, adjustable seating configurations, and engaging entertainment options. The luxury features of this vehicle include 13 ambient scene modes that create an immersive atmosphere, a sophisticated 64-color lighting system that adapts to your mood, a premium 14-speaker Sony audio system that envelops you in rich sound, and reclining front seats that cradle you in comfort. A panoramic sunroof with non-opening capabilities and a four-zone voice-activated system are also available options.
Mazda has relocated the drive selector to the steering column, freeing up space on the center console where two wireless phone charging pads now reside.
The electric vehicle (EV) model is equipped with a powerful 190 kW rear motor, paired with two battery options: a 56.1 kWh pack enabling a certified luggage test cycle (CLTC) range of approximately 480 kilometres; or a larger 68.8 kWh pack, delivering a CLTC range of up to 600 kilometres. Lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery prices range from 30% to 80% off within a quarter hour.
The EREV model boasts a 1.5-litre JL473QJ powertrain, delivering 70 kilowatts of conventional propulsion, seamlessly augmented by a potent 160 kilowatt electric motor. Two battery configurations offer electrically powered driving ranges of up to 130 kilometres or 200 kilometres, with a combined maximum distance of 1,301 kilometres. It costs between 30% and 80% of its value within 20 minutes, catering to diverse travel needs.
Mazda’s L2.5 driver assistance system features advanced technologies such as adaptive cruise control, remote parking, and the capability to navigate more than 150 different parking scenarios every day on the road. Mazda has also announced plans to introduce an additional new energy vehicle (NEV) model in 2025, further expanding its electric vehicle portfolio.
