Following the unveiling of its inaugural all-electric vehicle, the I-PACE, last week, Jaguar has officially announced US pricing for this innovative new model.

The British luxury car manufacturer announced its vehicle will start at $69,500 in the US market.

We’ve also factored in the cost of a fully loaded I-Tempo, which bumps up the total price to just shy of $98,000.

Jaguar has introduced a new range estimate for its I-PACE electric SUV within the US, labeling it as an approximate 240-mile driving distance.

The corporation further invested in US-based electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure alongside the unveiling of US pricing today.

As Joe Eberhardt, President and Chief Executive Officer of Jaguar Land Rover North America, noted:

As the Jaguar I-PACE makes its debut in the United States, Operating within the premium electric vehicle sector, our dealerships and customers are placing orders. In conjunction with our retail partners, who are committing to new facilities and EV infrastructure investments, we’re driving a forward-thinking strategy defined by highly competitive pricing and our flagship Jaguar EliteCare electric vehicle ownership package. “We anticipate that every aspect of the journey – from shopping to proudly owning and driving their I-PACE – will create a lifelong experience for our customers.”

The Hyundai Kona Electric’s sibling, the Ioniq EV (not I-Tempo), will begin rolling off the production lines and arrive at US dealerships by the end of 2018.

At a premium price point, this SUV’s size warrants such an investment.

While earlier discussions have drawn parallels between the Jaguar I-Pace and Tesla’s Model X, it’s worth noting that the latter surpasses the former in terms of size.

I tried matching the lower trim options on a Mannequin X with irregularities that are not typical of an I-Tempo, but they offer them as choices, such as 20-inch wheels and the powered tailgate.

It takes the base price above $76,000 – almost on par with the Model X 75D, which starts at $79,500.

Given the market’s lack of alternatives, I believe the I-Tempo would still fare well even at its current price point; nevertheless, a slightly more competitive pricing strategy might have garnered more attention from potential buyers.

The mystery surrounding the variance continues to vex me? Assuming an estimated EPA rating of around 240 miles, a 90kWh battery pack should enable a small SUV to achieve significantly more than that distance on a single charge.

With its impressive specifications, the Mannequin X boasts an estimated 237-mile range from a single charge, powered by a robust 75 kWh battery pack, as rated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). When Tesla introduced the Mannequin X equipped with a 90 kWh battery pack, it earned an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-certified rating of 257 miles. Jaguar should be dominating the electric vehicle market with its I-PACE, effortlessly eclipsing 260 miles of range without breaking a sweat.

Jaguar appears poised to manage burgeoning expectations surrounding its electric vehicle’s touted 240-mile range, aiming to exceed this estimate with an actual capability to surpass it.
