Recently, a batch of clandestine images revealing Wuling’s latest model emerged. The Hongguang Mini EV-inspired highway patrol car presents a larger-than-expected silhouette, which might lead to its alternative moniker: the Hongguang Plus. The CE110M, the mannequin’s inner codename, can also be equipped with a fully electric powertrain.
Although the new model’s exterior design bears some resemblance to the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV Macaron, its layered shape and combination of rectangular headlights and rounded edges give it a distinct appearance. The device may feature an additional protrusion at its centre, potentially housing the charging port.
The physical form of something from this perspective has a square shape. Designing and incorporating sliding rear doorways within modern architectural frameworks offers a plethora of benefits that can significantly enhance the overall aesthetic appeal, functionality, and user experience of any structure. The rear design features vertically aligned taillights, a departure from the Macaron’s styling cues. The styling of these tires is somewhat understated, with a compact profile that could be seen as conservative by some; similarly, the taillight arrangement, while functional, might not be considered cutting-edge in terms of design.
For now, details on additional features and engine specifications remain under wraps. We’ll watch with intense focus for any additional information that may become available.
In China’s automotive landscape, comparable models like the Great Wall Coolbear, with a price range of 63,900-87,900 yuan (approximately $9,100-$12,500) before its discontinuation, and BAIC Changhe Beidouxing/Large Dipper, priced between 41,900-51,900 yuan ($6,000-$7,400), have consistently been pulled from the market due to their niche positioning and lackluster sales performance. From January to June 2022, Changhe Beidouxing’s cumulative gross sales totalled just 723 units, with a mere 14 units sold in June alone that year? Can Wuling’s strategy successfully pivot and adjust its product mix in response to shifting market demands and customer preferences?
In September, Wuling saw a significant increase in auto sales, boasting a year-over-year rise of 24.1% with 145,000 vehicles purchased. The model’s monthly sales of new electric vehicles surpassed 80,000 units, marking a 106% year-over-year increase; cumulatively, this figure reached over 400,000 units by September. Among the models, the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV led the way with sales of 28,918 units, a remarkable 79.1% increase year-on-year, featuring four distinct versions: the third-generation Hongguang Mini EV, Macaron Version, Basic Version, Recreation Boy Version, and Cabrio Version.
