The previously known Hongqi E009 has been rebranded as the EH5. The concept was first showcased at last year’s Beijing Auto Show. Chinese-language media outlets are explicitly referencing the automobile, specifically the EH5 model, which corroborates rumors suggesting the upcoming electric sedan will be smaller in scale compared to the EH7. However, upon re-examination, the entity was found to have significantly reduced its ability to blend in compared to previous instances.

Automaker Autohome suggests that production of the Hongqi EH5 could potentially commence as early as October 2025. As we reported earlier, the prototype’s near-production-ready appearance at the 2023 Beijing Auto Show suggests that the vehicle is nearing its market debut, with reduced camouflage indicating a imminent launch. A launch by mid-2025 appears increasingly likely. Although Hongqi initially appears to approach challenges gradually.

The EH5 features a closed grille with an air intake located discreetly beneath the fender. The sloping hood extends uninterrupted to the entrance, imparting a sleek, aerodynamic silhouette that minimizes air resistance.

From this angle, a closer inspection reveals that subtle camouflage is concealing the door handles and extending across the mud guards. While the E009 concept may have featured innovative design elements, including concealed door handles, it is highly likely that the forthcoming EH5 model will retain this unique feature. On the rear, the tail light cluster is intended to mirror the one on the concept, featuring a sleek, continuous design element that wraps around the Hongqi badge. It appears that spy shots reveal a manufacturing car with Y-shaped daytime running lights, mirroring the original concept design.

The Hongqi E009 will debut at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show with a futuristic design, hinting at its ability to revolutionize the electric vehicle segment.

A newly designed automobile is expected to be unveiled under the Hongqi New Vitality sub-brand, debuting without its iconic red hood ornament.

Previous assessments have recommended that a 150 kW electric motor will power the vehicle.

Here is the text rewritten in a different style: The Hongqi EH7 boasts dimensions of 4,980mm, 1,915mm, and 1,490mm respectively, with a wheelbase stretching out to 3,000mm. It’s possible that the EH5 could fall somewhere within a length range of approximately 4700 millimeters, potentially bridging the gap between its known counterparts, the EH7.
