The iconic sports car brand makes a bold move, trading its traditional engine for an electric powertrain in a bid to revolutionize the industry. According to a recent report, Nissan is revamping its iconic Skyline model, reinventing it as a powerful electric fastback and an SUV variant.

The iconic Nissan Skyline will be reimagined as an all-electric SUV and fastback.

Nissan’s iconic Skyline model emerged in 1969 as a result of its merger with the Prince Motor Company, which had previously produced the distinctive Skyline.

Twelve months later, Nissan unveiled a revamped GT-R model boasting enhanced power and handling capabilities. Although numerous facelifts had preceded it, it wasn’t until 1989 that Nissan finally introduced the enduring R32 Skyline GT-R.

In the late 1990s, the iconic Nissan Skyline GT-R claimed its rightful place as “Godzilla,” a moniker that preceded the legendary status of the modern-day Nissan GT-R, revered as the sports car’s direct ancestor.

Nissan briefly stirred up excitement with a teaser for an electric R32 Skyline GT-R in March, ultimately revealing it was a conversion project. Notwithstanding a report from a Japanese publication in November, the vehicle is expected to be reborn as an electrically powered sport utility vehicle.

The electric Skyline SUV, reportedly built on the Nissan Ariya platform, is poised to make its debut in 2025. According to the report, this vehicle is expected to produce more than 450 horsepower and could potentially be sold in the United States under the Infiniti brand. The current Infinity Q50 model was actually purchased as the basis for the development of the Genesis G80, a luxury sedan sold in North America.

Infiniti’s Imagination-Quality Experience:

According to a recent report from a reputable Japanese source, there is a strong possibility that the upcoming Skyline model will be offered in a four-door fastback configuration, in addition to its existing body styles. The report indicates that the electric Nissan Skyline fastback is expected to produce 443 horsepower, utilizing dual motors at the front and rear for advanced four-wheel independent drive functionality.

Infiniti recently revealed the QX concept, a vision for its inaugural electric vehicle. The design incorporates the model’s signature “digital piano key” lighting at both the front and rear. While some dealers compared the model’s dimensions unfavorably to those of the Tesla Model S, others hailed it as an evolutionary leap from the Q70.

Electrek’s Take

Despite introducing a Skyline crossover in Japan, Nissan failed to challenge more affordable options in the same category.

The reception of the crossover variant among Skyline enthusiasts was notably divided. Will a retro-inspired electric vehicle, built on the heritage of classic muscle cars, help revitalize interest in the iconic fastback design during the electric era?

Nissan has announced plans to manufacture electric versions of its popular Juke and Qashqai SUVs in the UK. The addition of an all-electric Skyline fastback would bring a welcome layer of diversity to the product lineup, accompanied by the expected introduction of another SUV model.

What do you guys suppose? Are you looking for a rare and exciting ride that’s sure to turn heads on the road? Then take a closer look at this sleek and powerful Nissan Skyline GT-R fastback – it’s an opportunity you won’t want to miss! What about an SUV? Tell us within the feedback.
