Founded in 2017 by Tesla co-founder and former Chief Technology Officer JB Straubel, the company has achieved rapid success in developing a closed-loop economic system for producing high-quality lithium-ion batteries and recovering valuable materials like cobalt, copper, lithium, and nickel.

In recent years, Redwood has secured partnerships with several prominent original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), including Ford, Volkswagen Group, and Volvo. In the process, Redwood has successfully recycled the models’ batteries, giving them a second life by reselling their components and spare parts to companies such as Panasonic and Toyota, which then utilize them in electric vehicles.

The corporation excels in its field, demonstrating a certain level of proficiency. By 2023, the company had already demonstrated impressive results from its battery recycling pilot, boasting a remarkable 95% effectiveness.
