The Apollo 2.0 high-end intelligent driving system takes center stage in this brand-new medium to large-sized electrical sedan, boasting L4 autonomous driving capabilities – a milestone achieved by a mass-produced vehicle for the first time. It is widely acknowledged that Apollo 2.0 is a perception-based system. At the launch ceremony, the keys were formally handed over to Robin Zeng, the chairman and CEO of leading battery manufacturer Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL), marking the first delivery of the Jiyue 07 to its proud owner.
Dubbed an “AI-era icon” in reference to its heritage with the Jiyue 07, this C-class pure electric sedan embodies a futuristic aesthetic infused with AI-inspired design cues, highlighting the company’s commitment to innovative styling rooted in Chinese cultural identity.
Available in a range of six vibrant colours, the Jiyue 07’s sleek exterior is defined by its enclosed entrance grille, effortlessly setting the tone for a stylish and secure first impression. The subtle character line running along the rear edge of the hood imparts a unique appearance to this vehicle, particularly when lit up at night, while its two outer headlamp clusters add an extra layer of visual interest. Behind the fender’s exterior, a trapezoidal-shaped intake vent allows for airflow. The Jiyue 07’s design embodies a forward-thinking approach, exemplified most notably in its innovative door-opening mechanism, where intuitive buttons on the B and C pillars seamlessly activate the doorways. By incorporating this design element, the vehicle’s appearance is significantly modernized. With its exceptional aerodynamics certified by a measured drag coefficient of just 0.198, the vehicle’s sleek design is thoroughly justified. The roofline slopes downward gradually towards the rear in a sleek, fastback-inspired silhouette. The rear spoiler of this electric vehicle mechanically deploys at a speed of 95 km/h and higher. The vehicle features a distinctive rear design, characterized by sleek tail lights.
The dimensions of the Jiyue 07 (see specifications) measure 4,953mm in length, 1,989mm in width, and 1,475mm in height, boasting a generous wheelbase of 3,013mm.
The 7-inch touchscreen display takes center stage on the dashboard, measuring an impressive 35.6 inches across. This display can operate as a unified entity or be effortlessly partitioned into three distinct sections. The navigation system is poised to feature lane-level mapping, while the vehicle also offers optional ambient lighting capabilities.
A cutting-edge, comprehensive end-to-end model emerges, boasting advanced features for precise detection, vigilant monitoring, detailed mapping, and sophisticated scene comprehension. When this mannequin is upgraded, various features of the sophisticated cockpit may also be upgraded, including the SIMO voice assistant, which will be elevated to version 2.0. This capability can seemingly elevate the voice assistant’s functionality beyond its typical question-and-answer scope, enabling a more natural and seamless interaction. Powering the system is a cutting-edge Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P chipset, boasting an impressive 60 trillion operations per second (TOPS) of processing power.
There are standardised climate control zones for the driver, front, and rear passengers. At the back of the central console, rear-seat occupants gain access to a 7-inch touchscreen interface, allowing them to effortlessly control air conditioning, navigation, and multimedia functions. The trunk space of our vehicle measures 581 litres, but when you fold down the rear seats, that capacity more than doubles to an impressive 1,573 litres.
The single-motor variants of the Jiyue 07 utilise a 400V configuration, whereas the twin-motor variant switches to an 800V setup. Single-motor variants employ a powerful 200 kW electric motor situated at the rear axle, boasting a maximum torque output of 343 Nm. The dual-motor variant introduces significant enhancements, featuring an additional powerful rear electric motor delivering 300 kW and 373 Nm, complemented by a 230 kW unit on the front axle capable of generating up to 280 Nm of torque. The base model employs a 71.44 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack, while extended-range variants replace it with a 100 kWh nickel-cobalt-manganese battery pack. Despite initial expectations, the efficiency model’s NCM battery boasts an impressive capacity of 93.4 kWh, showcasing its surprisingly robust performance. The electric vehicles boast driving ranges of 660 km, 880 km, and 770 km, as certified by the standardized CLTC testing protocol. The efficiency model boasts a 0-to-100 km/h acceleration time of just 3.5 seconds.
