Hyundai’s most popular electric vehicle remains in high demand. Hyundai’s IONIQ 5 has shattered its own record for US sales in August, marking a milestone ahead of the updated 2025 model’s release, set to hit dealership floors this autumn.

Hyundai’s all-electric IONIQ 5 sedan drives record-breaking US sales in August.

Hyundai America CEO Randy Parker announced on Wednesday that the brand had achieved a record-breaking August in terms of both wholesale and retail gross sales.

In a significant milestone, Hyundai achieved its highest-ever U.S. monthly sales in August, selling 79,278 vehicles, an impressive 22% increase over the same period last year. Hybrid vehicles drove a significant surge in retail gross sales, with an impressive 81% increase, while electric vehicle (EV) retail sales saw a notable 27% rise.

The surge in demand follows a record-breaking performance by Kia, Hyundai’s sibling brand, which shattered its US sales mark for the second consecutive month in August.

In a surprise August milestone, Hyundai’s IONIQ 5 sparked a surge in retail sales of 74%, shattering records and solidifying its position as a top performer. By August 2024, Hyundai had delivered nearly 27,000 IONIQ 5 units in the US market, a 26% increase from the 21,348 sold during the same period last year, with 4,838 vehicles shipped to dealerships in the most recent month alone.

Despite the forthcoming release of a revamped 2025 model later this autumn, the electric SUV continues to experience surging demand.

Here’s the improved version:

Hyundai’s upcoming 2025 Ioniq 5 electric vehicle is set to feature a proprietary Tesla NACS charging port, according to sources at the manufacturer.

Hyundai has officially revealed the all-new 2025 IONIQ 5, boasting an expanded lineup, a redesigned exterior, a novel off-road-focused XRT trim, and a cutting-edge Tesla-inspired NACS charging port.

Will be the inaugural Hyundai model produced at the company’s sprawling Metaplant America facility in Georgia. Hyundai has announced that the US-built 2025 IONIQ 5, once its battery production commences, will initially qualify for a $3,750 tax credit, with full eligibility for the maximum $7,500 incentive expected once manufacturing begins.

Until then, Hyundai will still earn credits from leasing. As the 2025 model rolls out to dealerships this autumn, Hyundai’s 2024 IONIQ 5 stands out as one of the most exceptional SUV options currently available.

The 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 SEL is available with up to $14,500 in incentives. Starting at a competitive $47,400, the IONIQ 5 stands out as one of the most affordably priced electric SUVs in the US market, boasting an impressive range of over 300 miles.

The most affordable option is the Standard Range Electric model, which starts at around $41,000. This trim comes with a single electric motor, producing 168 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The Limited Trim adds features like a panoramic sunroof, LED headlights, and a wireless phone charging pad, and costs around $45,000. The Ultimate Trim takes the luxury up a notch with premium leather seats, heated and ventilated front seats, and a surround-view camera system, all for around $50,000.
