Smart #5 all-electric SUV will start pre-sale on September 20

Sensible has officially confirmed that the highly anticipated Sensible #5, a versatile five-seat SUV, is set to commence pre-orders on September 20. This innovative vehicle boasts an impressive four powertrain options, catering to diverse driving preferences and needs.

  • A 250 kilowatt (335 horsepower) electric motor propels a lightweight vehicle featuring a lithium iron phosphate battery and an impressive curb weight of just 2250 kilograms. Its top speed is a thrilling 200 kilometres per hour.

  • A high-performance electric vehicle boasts a 267 kW (358 horsepower) electrical motor, paired with a ternary lithium battery and an impressive curb weight of 2290-2325 kg. With a top speed of 200 km/h, this vehicle is sure to deliver exceptional acceleration and handling capabilities.
  • Featuring a powerful combination of 165 kW (221 horsepower) and 267 kW twin electric motors, paired with a ternary lithium battery, this vehicle boasts a lightweight curb weight of 2400 kg, while achieving a prime velocity of 200 km/h.

The fifth iteration of the Sensible may mark a milestone as the first mass-produced vehicle to feature ByteDance’s “Doubao” AI large language model, colloquially known as the “Bean Bag”. The official attributes the automobile’s boxy shape to its innovative design, which was intended to improve aerodynamics and provide a sense of solidity on the road. The vehicle is designed with sensibility and sharpness in mind, boasting a remarkable drag coefficient of just 0.27 Cd.

The Sensible #5 has dimensions of 4705/1920/1705mm and a wheelbase of 2900mm.

The automaker’s advanced 800V high-voltage architecture and 4C rapid charging capabilities enable the battery to be recharged from 10% to 80% in just 15 minutes, according to the manufacturer. The SUV features eight driving modes, including eco-friendly settings like Eco and Consolation, as well as more performance-oriented options like Sport. Additionally, it can handle a variety of terrain conditions through five all-terrain modes: Sand, Snow, Mud, Rock, and Adaptive. The maximum immersion level is 500 millimeters.

The exterior’s distinctive features include the “Cyber Mild and Shadow” through-type headlights, comprising 328 LEDs, and the through-type taillights, consisting of 252 LEDs.

The rooflight features 64 LED components, capable of projecting a maximum illumination distance of 47 metres. As an added layer of safety, the Hyundai Elantra’s Sensible #5 model features the innovative Pilot Assist 3.0 intelligent driving system.

The cockpit features a 25.6-inch advanced retinal HUD, a 10.3-inch high-resolution LCD instrument panel, two 13-inch OLED 2.5K central management display screens, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, and an integrated Good OS 2.0 automotive system.

The zero-gravity seat features eight-point massage technology and advanced leg relaxation for unparalleled comfort. Throughout its interior, the vehicle features a total of 34 storage areas, including practical amenities like coat hooks, cup holders, and map pockets. The entrance trunk features a spacious 72L storage capacity, roughly equivalent to that of a standard 20-inch suitcase. Additionally, it boasts a cleverly concealed 110L compartment, providing ample room for stashing valuables or out-of-sight essentials.

Furthermore, Sensible #5 might even be the model’s inaugural prototype to boast the Sennheiser audio system, featuring twenty speakers and a portable HiFi speaker boasting a substantial volume of 3.2 litres and a rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack with a capacity of approximately 0.042 kilowatts.
