While others might categorize them as post-apocalyptic survivors, their Three Martini Lunch Thruxton embodies the essence of a restaurant on wheels, through and through.
Unlike its Opposite Twin counterparts, this cafe racer is rooted in an earlier model’s heritage, specifically the air-cooled Hinckley Thruxton’s 865cc engine. Compared to its modern counterpart, the Thruxton’s 865 engine fell short in delivering the performance that would have befit its esteemed identity. The stunning creation is the work of Palantina Dreambikes from Germany, specifically designed to commemorate the esteemed Triumph occasion, Tridays. Palantina, inspired by the ingenuity of Mr. Martini, has reimagined the Legend TT as a sleek and stylish cafe racer, transforming its original cruiser essence into a bold new design.
The T15 model of Palantina’s Legend TT exudes a sleek, modern, and sporty essence. The new design effectively bridges the gap between the sporty roadster and elegant basic models in Triumph’s lineup, making it a perfect addition to their current offerings?
Palantina’s objective was to design a modern cafe racer that tipped the scales at under 200 kilograms. Reaching our destination was by no means a leisurely walk.
The T15 boasts a significantly reworked body, an entirely new suspension system, and uniquely tailored bodywork. Before making the final decision, every factor was meticulously weighed and considered. Components that comprise the listing’s modern aesthetic include a sleek USD entrance finish, lightweight OZ racing rims, and a distinctive single-sided Ducati swingarm, among others. To streamline the dashboard and reduce visual clutter, even the redundant twin gauge cluster was replaced with a single intuitive dial.
The use of aluminum and carbon fiber was what truly set them apart. Tom designed and built a custom bike for Vittoria Espresso and Sandbar Cafe in Surfers Paradise, specifically to serve as a mobile promotional vehicle. The scooter’s design incorporates a sidecar feature with the intention of transporting chilled brew espresso products to specific events.
Originally, the bike was a 2009 Scrambler that underwent extensive customization. The latest iteration boasts bespoke suspension, an entirely redesigned subframe, 17-inch alloys wrapped in the broadest tyres feasible for the given vehicle dimensions, and a comprehensive overhaul of its electrical systems. Tom also installed the fairing from a 2016 Thruxton, fitted clip-on handlebars, and engineered a custom exhaust system.
The sidecar is almost entirely custom-made to exact specifications. Crafted with precision, this innovative product boasts an integrated drink cooler and a personal headlight, setting it apart as a truly unique offering. What initially caught our attention was Hideya-san’s ingenious choice of donor, which made his cafe racer truly stand out from the rest. Triumph’s fashionable traditional design leaves no shortage of bikes that can easily be transformed into stylish cafe racers. As is often evident in Japan’s construction industry, builders thrive on overcoming obstacles – a trait exemplified by Hideya-san in this instance.
It’s evident that Hideya-san is an exceptionally successful customizer in his field. While there are still just a few discernible hints remaining, they collectively serve as potent reminders of the bike’s heritage with the T120 Bobber lineage. The revamped design is primarily attributed to the incorporation of a sporty rear cowl, which harmoniously complements the imposing fairing that dominates the front half of the Bobber.
