Wuling Hongguang EV opens pre-sale starting at 9,850 USD

On September 6, SAIC-GM-Wuling’s collaborative endeavour unveiled the electric vehicle variant of its Wuling Hongguang Multi-Purpose Vehicle for pre-sale, available in two trims, priced between 69,800 and 72,800 yuan (approximately $9,850 to $10,300 USD). The official launch is expected to take place later this year. The price range for the Wuling Hongguang gasoline-powered version sold on market varies from 46,500 to 60,900 yuan, roughly equivalent to $6,600-$8,600 USD.

Since its inception in 2010, the Wuling Hongguang has achieved an impressive milestone of producing over 5.9 million units within a span of 14 years. The Wuling Hongguang EV was officially positioned as the world’s first 60,000-yuan-level pure electric rear-wheel drive multipurpose vehicle. (60,000 yuan is 8,500 USD).

The Wuling Hongguang EV’s updated entrance features an even more rounded silhouette and a sleeker, more closed-off front fascia, aligning with the modern design trends prevalent in contemporary electric vehicles. The iconic brand logo is relocated to the front grille. Furthermore, the tail structure is uncomplicated, featuring a standard square shape. look. The official also stated that the vehicle features 14 carefully calibrated components designed to minimize aerodynamic drag.

The Wuling Hongguang EV boasts dimensions of 4515mm in length, 1725mm in width, and 1790mm in height, a mere increase over its predecessor’s size; meanwhile, its wheelbase stretches to an impressive 2850mm. The curb weight is approximately 1,275 kilograms.

Customers have the option to choose from a palette of three exterior paint colours: Polar White, Clear Sky Silver, and Tungsten Metal Grey.

Energy is harnessed by an electric motor boasting a maximum output of 75 kilowatts (101 horsepower) and a peak torque of 180 Newton-meters, integrated with a 32.6-kilowatt-hour lithium-iron-phosphate battery pack. The CLTC cruise range is approximately 300 kilometers. Within a mere half hour, the battery is replenished from 30% to 80%, courtesy of DC quick charging. Underneath AC’s gradual charging system, the charge time from 20% to 100% is approximately 9 hours and 48 minutes. The highest recorded velocity is 135 kilometres per hour.

The interior features a rectangular-shaped air conditioning vent, an array of intuitive control knobs for the vehicle’s systems, and a flat-bottomed steering wheel with a sporty design. The Wuling Hongguang EV features a comprehensive suite of security configurations, including an anti-lock braking system, a digital brake force distribution system, and an optional driver-side airbag for enhanced occupant protection. The 8-inch floating central management display screen is an optional feature.

Various configurations incorporate a key fob, one-touch operation to lower the driver’s side window, a 12-volt onboard power outlet, and an AM/FM radio.

The Wuling Hongguang EV showcases two distinct seating configurations: a five-seat layout featuring 2+3 arrangements and a six-seat option with a 2+2+2 configuration. When the five-seater model is configured for cargo transport, its second-row seats recline and fold down to create a spacious storage area? In contrast, the six-seater version features all three rows of seating folding down to provide an expansive cargo compartment. The maximum trunk length can reach up to 2.8 meters.3.
