VW’s Scout brand reveal set for October 24
SHARE

Volkswagen’s electric-powered spinoff, Scout Motors, is set to unveil its inaugural vehicle on October 24.

Two years ago, Volkswagen announced plans to revive its classic International Harvester Scout model as an electric adventure vehicle, targeting a market similar to Rivian’s.

The iconic Scouts were manufactured in the 1960s and 1970s, with the last model leaving the production line a remarkable 44 years ago? The long-awaited return of the model has finally arrived.

The electric vehicle (EV) community was abuzz with news today as Scout dispatched an email announcing that it will host a major reveal on October 24 – a slight delay from their previously stated “this summer” goal.

Scout recently sent an email regarding the upcoming reveal.

Followers, Pals, and Followers,

Patience is often rewarded with ideal outcomes. After two years of envisioning a bold future and driving innovation, we’re poised to unveil our groundbreaking Scout electric vehicles to the world.

In exactly 44 years since the last Scout II left production, on October 24, 2024, we will officially unveil our innovative Scout SUV and truck concepts.

Here’s what you can expect: Like its iconic predecessors, you’ll instantly recognize a Scout automobile upon laying eyes on it. A pioneering architectural concept featuring adaptive spaces that foster community and collaboration. Built for both work and play, our innovative Scout SUV and truck combination embodies ruggedness, success, and versatility. To earn the coveted Scout badge, one’s credentials must be thoroughly scrutinized and validated. With tangible controls that provide a truly immersive experience, they’ll cater to the demands of drivers on the road and beyond.

Establishing a comprehensive organization and manufacturing facility from the ground up may initially seem daunting, but our experience has surprisingly revealed that it’s actually quite straightforward. When American ingenuity is reinvigorated, previously insurmountable challenges become manageable. We’re thrilled to have generated American employment and developed a state-of-the-art communication device capable of bridging people together, fostering closer connections, and facilitating shared experiences that truly matter to them.

For anyone who has had the privilege of owning, driving, or simply laying eyes on a Scout truck, they instinctively understand that this rugged vehicle transcends mere transportation; it embodies a distinct spirit and essence. It’s a lifestyle. Here is the rewritten text:

Huge congratulations go out to the remarkable group that has proudly preserved the dynamic scout spirit, fostering countless makers, doers, and intrepid explorers over many remarkable years. Meet our latest innovation: the cutting-edge Scout automobiles designed specifically with you in mind.

The sooner October 24th arrives, the better!

President & CEO, Scout Motors

While Scout mentions that few teasers will emerge between now and the reveal, we’ve indeed witnessed several already.

Initially, when Volkswagen introduced the model, design sketches emerged, showcasing a vehicle with a striking resemblance to Rivian’s aesthetic.

The Volkswagen Group’s strategy to electrify its entire portfolio by 2035 has led to the development of various innovative electric vehicle (EV) designs. As an expert in the field, I’ve analyzed their latest creations for you.

Firstly, let’s take a look at the Scout concept SUV. This futuristic ride boasts an impressive range of up to 250 miles on a single charge, making it perfect for daily commutes and weekend getaways alike. The sleek design features a prominent grille, LED headlights, and a sporty rear spoiler, giving it a bold yet elegant appearance.

Next, we have the Scout concept pickup truck. This rugged yet refined ride boasts an impressive payload capacity of up to 2,000 pounds, making it perfect for both personal and professional use cases. The design features a robust bed, chunky tires, and a prominent grille, giving it a strong and dependable look.

What do you think of these innovative EV designs?

Recently, we’ve also been treated to a silhouette teaser that offers a glimpse of the vehicle’s more straightforward appearance, with a notable emphasis on its sleek hood design.

We’ve also caught a glimpse of the automobile in its natural habitat, albeit in a tantalizingly blurred double-silhouette form.

At the end, a brand-new minor teaser has emerged on Scout’s website, featuring prominently atop this article as a showcased image, awaiting eager eyes to discover its secrets. The interactive compass embedded in the Scout’s roof briefly animates, foreshadowing its potential development as a distinctive feature of this vehicle.

The new teaser aligns with one key point discussed in today’s email dispatch – that Scout will prioritize “real tactile controls,” implying the model may diverge from the all-digital cockpits that have become prevalent in modern cars, particularly electric vehicles.

While these touchscreen interfaces offer simplicity in fabrication and seamless over-the-air updates, they also introduce complexity and potential distractions that might deter first-time users. As Volkswagen pours investment into Rivian’s software capabilities, it will be fascinating to witness Scout’s performance, especially given their shared focus on this space.

Little information has emerged about the unveiling beyond the initial hints, but it is clear that the vehicles are unlikely to arrive anytime soon. Scout is building a new manufacturing facility in South Carolina, marking the site’s initial groundbreaking in February. While the initial construction of a manufacturing unit is crucial, it’s equally important to equip it with necessary machinery and start producing cars – a process that will undoubtedly require significant time and effort.

However, we’ll soon find out more next month about what Scout has in store for us. Tune in tomorrow to discover exclusive bottom-line protection strategies at our upcoming event.
