2025 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid costs $32,150, gets 47 mpg combined

The starting price of the 2025 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid mid-size sedan is set at a mere $35 more than its predecessor, at $23,350.

The base price of the model includes a mandatory $1,150 destination fee, applicable to the entry-level SEL trim. Starting in 2024, a Limited edition will also be available. By 2025, we’re planning a getaway to our top-rated vacation spot.

2025 Hyundai Sonata

The sixth-generation Hyundai Sonata Hybrid premiered in the market for the 2020 model year. With the acquisition of a sleek, aerodynamically designed body, the vehicle boasts not one but two 12.3-inch displays seamlessly integrated into a curved panoramic housing, while its regenerative braking system has been upgraded for improved performance. While non-hybrid Sonatas will introduce new SE and SEL Comfort trim levels in 2025, these updates do not extend to the hybrid model, remaining unchanged.

Despite being hybrids, they rely on a 2.0-liter inline-four gasoline engine and a 6-speed automatic transmission equipped with an integrated electric motor, which is fueled by a 1.62-kWh battery pack. While Hyundai now offers all-wheel drive on certain non-hybrid Sonata trim levels starting in 2024, it’s worth noting that the Sonata Hybrid continues to be a front-wheel drive-only proposition.

2025 Hyundai Sonata

EPA fuel-economy ratings remain consistent for the 2024 model year’s iteration. With metropolitan and freeway scores of 44 miles per gallon (mpg) and 51 mpg, respectively. Prior to refreshment, the Sonata Hybrid boasted an impressive 52 miles per gallon combined fuel economy in its Blue trim configuration, which was not available at the time of this writing.

The Honda Accord Hybrid competes with its main rivals, including the Honda Accord Hybrid itself, which boasts an impressive 48 mpg combined fuel efficiency in its EX-L trim, and the Toyota Camry, which offers a hybrid-only option as part of a comprehensive refresh for the 2025 model year. The Camry achieves an impressive fuel efficiency rating of up to 51 miles per gallon (mpg) combined in its front-wheel drive LE trim, ideal for drivers seeking optimal performance and cost-effectiveness on the road. Unlike its counterparts in the Sonata and Accord lines, this model’s hybrid powertrain can be paired with all-wheel drive capability, though this feature is expected to incur a slight efficiency cost.
