Ford EV owners in Texas will receive a unique credit score on their TXU Energy bill based on the renewable energy produced by the Ford-owned solar panels installed at their homes, allowing them to offset the cost of charging their electric vehicles. The Ford Intelligent Charging System allows Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning owners to charge their vehicles without incurring additional costs when parked at home, given that more than 80% of EV charging occurs at residential locations.
By leveraging this innovative platform, Ford aims to educate motorists on the benefits of driving electric vehicles while encouraging charging during periods of low grid demand.
“Ford’s electric SUVs and vans have already demonstrated a significant reduction in operating and maintenance costs compared to their gasoline-powered counterparts. Furthermore, home charging options offer additional financial incentives,” said Bill Coughlin, Ford’s Senior Director of Global Charging and Power Systems.

After 12 months of enrollment, customers receive a $100 bonus from Ford and a $250 bonus from TXU Power. As soon as they are enrolled, drivers will begin to receive regular rebates for charging during off-peak hours.
