Tesla unveils render of upcoming ‘Semi Manufacturing Facility’ in Nevada, next to Gigafactory Texas, where it will produce electric semi-vehicles.

Despite its formal entry into production, the Tesla Semi program continues to experience crucial delays.

Initially introduced in 2017, the project faced a series of delays, ultimately entering production in late 2022, missing its initial target of returning to market in 2020.

Within the past year, this system has been severely constrained despite entering manufacturing.

By October 2023, it emerged that Tesla had manufactured approximately 70 units of its Tesla Semi fleet, with the majority being utilized by the company itself and a single primary customer, PepsiCo.

In January 2023, Tesla expanded its Gigafactory Nevada facility to produce the Tesla Semi on a larger scale.

Despite the passage of more than a year, there has been little to no news about the initiative.

Twelve months ago, Tesla finally started moving dirt and initiating construction at its long-planned manufacturing facility site. By mid-2024, Tesla aims to complete construction of its manufacturing facility and commence production of Tesla Semi vehicles by late 2025.

Dan Priestley, the pinnacle of the Tesla Semi program, recently shared an update on the project’s current status on the company’s website, accompanied by a rendering of the planned completed Semi manufacturing facility.

The image of the development suggests that Tesla has commenced work on its Muse.

As vehicles proceed past the museum’s anchors, a glimpse into the magnificent scale of this edifice becomes apparent.

Tesla also revealed a rendering of its newly completed Gigafactory.

By the time construction is complete, we’ll witness an impressive and substantial project having taken shape.

Despite a lack of detailed information from Tesla on the new plant, the company had previously hinted at an ambitious goal: producing up to 50,000 Tesla Semi units annually.
