The Retro Rebuilds workshop in Rockford, Michigan meticulously transformed a vintage 1987 BMW K100LT motorcycle into a sleek and sophisticated cafe racer. The bicycle underwent a multitude of refinements to achieve its refreshed visual appeal.
The cafe racer boasts a 5.8-gallon gasoline tank resplendent in gleaming blue, standing out against the sleek black tubular frame and bespoke subframe. The bespoke seat features a sleek black solo saddle with a sporty hump design, paired with a cushioned floor crafted from plush suede-like textiles.
The lighting setup comprises a projector headlight fastened by Pace Moto brackets, a frame-integrated strip taillight, and integrated switch alerts that illuminate the rear. The entrance flip alerts are securely fastened to the fork’s surface.
By upgrading the entrance finish, a Suzuki GSX-R motorcycle featured a Cognito Moto steering stem conversion kit to enhance performance and handling. This motorcycle features an inverted adjustable fork with gold-accented sliders, paired with twin Tokico disc brakes for enhanced stopping power, and a sleek black-finished three-spoke alloy wheel that adds to its overall visual appeal.
The rear sports the inventory 17-inch Y-spoke alloy wheel finished in glossy black, complemented by a single-disc brake system featuring a striking gold-anodized Brembo caliper. The entrance and rear wheels feature Shinko’s 705 Path Grasp dual-sport tyres, produced in 2019. The rear suspension features a black adjustable monoshock mounted to a single-sided swingarm that also functions as a driveshaft enclosure.
The handlebars feature sleek black clip-ons wrapped in gunmetal grey gel grips, paired with a pair of mirrored visors that provide optimal visibility on the road. Perched beneath a Suzuki GSX-R’s primary triple clamp, the Cognito Moto mounting bracket is firmly secured, supporting a SpeedHut GPS speedometer capable of tracking speeds of up to 120 mph, accompanied by a compact 12k-rpm tachometer display?
A powerful liquid-cooled 987cc horizontal inline-four engine propels the bike. The engine is installed in a longitudinal configuration, featuring dual overhead camshafts, an aluminium block, Bosch’s LE-Jetronic fuel injection technology, an electric starter motor, and a high-performance four-into-one stainless steel exhaust system equipped with a custom-designed muffler. The factory-rated output of the engine is a modest 89 horsepower and 63 pound-feet of torque.
