The Chery-Zhimi joint venture’s iCar V23 electric SUV is set to launch in China at a starting price of 119,800 yuan (approximately $16,500). According to confidential documents obtained through online channels, details about the model’s internal workings have been publicly disclosed. The iCar V23 reportedly plans to expand its global reach under the Jaecoo/Lucano brand.

Chinese EV brand iCar is set to expand its global presence by introducing its models beneath the Jaecoo badge internationally.

When people think of the term “iCar,” the first brand that typically comes to mind is Apple. Notwithstanding, Motorola terminated its venture into car production. The iCar is a non-Apple-affiliated New Energy Vehicle (NEV) model introduced by Chery in 2023. The company’s current lineup features a sole model, the iCar 03 crossover. Despite this, Chery is not bold enough to utilize the iCar branding for global sales. The iCar O3 was unveiled as the Jaecoo J6 (or Lucano J6) in overseas markets.

iCar V23 value leaked

According to leaked documents, the starting price for the iCar V23 in its 2WD configuration, boasting a range of 401 kilometers, stands at 119,800 yuan (approximately $16,500 USD). The Chinese-made electric vehicle will become available for pre-orders at a price of 2,000 yuan (approximately $275 USD). The ultimate cost is approximately 117,800 yuan, which translates to around 16,235 USD. The highly anticipated market debut of the automotive is slated to take place this year.

The iCar 03’s prices range from $15,100 to $23,400, comparable to its larger version, which is priced at 109,800 – 169,800 yuan. The iCar V23 boasts an elevated presence compared to its predecessor’s initial iteration.

Extra on iCar V23

The iCar V3 is the latest iteration of this innovative vehicle’s design. Chery and Xiaomi’s subsidiary, Zhimi Tech, jointly developed this innovation. On this mission, the Zhimi crew is responsible for defining products, planning, and engineering. Chery oversees production, procurement, sales, logistics, and after-sales services. As the two corporations take pride in their collaborative efforts, they’re poised to unveil a fleet of six to eight innovative vehicles over the next three years.

The iCar V23 maintains a consistent design aesthetic with its boxy styling, reminiscent of the iCar 03’s distinctive shape. The car’s unique features include its spherical headlights, pronounced wheel arches, seamless door handles that seamlessly integrate with the body, and elevated bumpers that create a distinct visual profile. This hybrid design appears to combine elements from the BMW X2 (BAW 212), Mercedes-Benz G-Class, and Jeep Wrangler, resulting in a unique visual profile.

iCar V23 in camouflage

The iCar V23 is a compact vehicle boasting dimensions of 4,220mm in length, 1,915mm in width, and 1,845mm in height. The vehicle’s lengthy wheelbase stretches to an impressive 2730 millimeters. Because of its aggressive stance, the V23 boasts departure and approach angles of 43 degrees and 41 degrees, respectively. The Chery presents its vehicle as an authentic off-road performer, boasting four-wheel drive capabilities and an impressive ground clearance of 212 millimeters. The iCar will boast a 2WD variant, featuring an impressive 206 mm of ground clearance.

Within the icar V23’s sleek interior, a prominent floating display dominates the dashboard, complemented by a futuristic three-spoke spherical steering wheel and intuitive body-mounted controls. The gearshift is positioned behind the steering wheel.

The Land Rover Defender offers a range of options, including advanced features like millimeter-wave radar technology, powered by Qualcomm’s sophisticated Snapdragon 8155 chip.

The powertrain specifications for the iCar V23 remain undisclosed. While we all know that it will offer two distinct options: a 300-kilometer variant and a 500-kilometer one. Rumors are circulating among online users that the V23 could potentially feature an 80-kWh ternary NMC battery pack supplied by Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL). Given its compact size, With its impressive stature at 4.4 meters, the iCar 03 offers customers a choice between two battery options: a 50.6 kWh or 65.7 kWh capacity. Despite this, it still exhibits a notable range of 400-500 km. The V23 model equipped with an 80 kWh battery is capable of delivering a remarkable range of up to 700 kilometres.
