As further evidence that China shouldn’t abandon its enthusiasm for the Xiaomi SU7 sedan, it’s actually possible to sell a pre-owned model for more than its original price when new. To showcase his Xiaomi SU7 Max Founders Edition, Li Dazhui, a prominent blogger, released a video on July 23 that featured him showcasing its unique features.

The individual decided to showcase their Xiaomi SU7 Max Founders Edition, prompted by a friend’s suggestion that the used car market value exceeded the price they paid for it new. Due to shortages, the unavailability of the Founders Version has contributed significantly. Determined to monetize his vehicle, Li decided to try his hand at selling it.

Early adopters received the Founders Edition of the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra.

The blogger had been behind the wheel of his vehicle for roughly three months, having accumulated a distance of approximately 3,600 kilometres. During his ownership, he had been involved in a minor accident where the vehicle was slightly damaged, and subsequently rear-ended once.

The video reveals a screen capture from an app showcasing the price variations for used Xiaomi Redmi S2 phones. The prices tag two SU7 Max models at 343,000 yuan (approximately $47,150), a vehicle with 600 kilometers on its odometer, and 335,000 yuan ($46,050) for one with 1,900 kilometers on the clock. All of these appear to be identical to the Founders Edition.

The second-hand costs of the Xiaomi Su7, as demonstrated by Li’s video.

The all-new SU7 Max boasts an impressive starting price tag of $41,500 or approximately 299,900 yuan. The Founders’ Version is limited to the primary 5,000 orders of both the Max and Normal variants of the SU7, boasting complimentary upgrades including Nappa leather, 25 high-fidelity speakers, and a premium in-car refrigerator.

Eventually, due to the damage sustained by his vehicle, Li agreed to accept a settlement of 280,000 yuan (approximately $38,500 USD) from a used car dealership in Beijing. Li notes in the video that the residual value of the Xiaomi SU7 might be extremely high. The entrepreneur has witnessed a rare phenomenon in the automotive market, where a vehicle retains its significant value, allowing him to sell it at the same price as when it was brand-new just four months later.

As a seasoned professional, Li Dazhui shares valuable insights on his remarkable journey to the top of the sales hierarchy, leveraging the cutting-edge technology of the Xiaomi SU7.

The three variants of the Xiaomi SU7 are currently available to view, with their specifications listed. The two models, dubbed “Normal” and “Professional,” boast identical 400V structures, differing primarily in the larger capacity battery found in the Professional variant, enabling a range of up to 830 kilometers. The Max model represents a significant improvement, offering more than just a larger battery; it also introduces an 800V architecture, dual motors, and a Lidar-based advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS). Priced between $29,900 and $41,500 in US dollars, or approximately 215,900 to 299,900 yuan. In the recent past, a revolutionary SU7 Extremely prototype made its debut, with commercial releases slated for 2025.
