The latest sighting of BMW M’s primary quad-motor EV caught on camera while testing in challenging icy conditions, showcasing its sleek and aggressive design.

The future of electrified performance has arrived: BMW M’s pioneering all-wheel-drive quad-motor EV takes its first snowy steps.

The high-performance EVs are coming. Following Porsche’s unveiling of its fastest street-legal electric vehicle, the 1,092-hp Taycan Turbo GT, we gained an exclusive preview of the forthcoming Mercedes-AMG electric supercar just days ago.

Now, we’re taking a closer look at what to expect from the pioneering quad-motor BMW M EV. BMW unveiled the electric vehicle prototype for a second time in August 2022.

The automaker is currently conducting trials on its pioneering all-electric prototype, featuring four advanced electric motors and an integrated driving dynamics control system. Captured in action for the first time, BMW M’s high-performance electric vehicle has made a few appearances on public roads, but this sighting marks its debut in motion.

The latest video teaser from BMW showcases a sportier, even more aggressive iteration of the i4, boasting prominent fenders and a sleek, low-slung stance.

While details remain scarce from BMW M, experts predict the forthcoming electric vehicle will deliver a formidable output of over 1,000 horsepower, rivaling the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT’s impressive performance capabilities. The new model is expected to ride on BMW’s Neue Klasse platform.

BMW’s product improvement chief, Frank Weber, has officially announced that an electric M3 is expected to hit the market around 2027. Weber claims that the 4 independent motors on the platform could collectively operate at a power level equivalent to approximately 1 megawatt, which would translate to around 1,340 horsepower.

BMW reportedly plans to follow up on the BMW i4 M50 with an all-electric BMW M model.

“You run the risk of going off the deep end,” Weber cautioned. “Afterward, you’ll delve further into a system where you can explore increased rear-wheel drive bias with enhanced management capabilities enabled by electric motors.”

In April, BMW unveiled its fastest electric vehicle to date: the i7 M70. The BMW i7 M70 boasts a potent twin-motor all-wheel-drive setup, generating a substantial 660 horsepower and 811 pound-feet of torque, enabling it to sprint from 0 to 62 miles per hour in an impressive 3.7 seconds.

The Porsche Taycan Turbo GT accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in a remarkably swift 2.1 seconds. Will BMW hit a home run with its first quad-motor M efficiency EV?
