As I contemplate Nepal, I envision majestic mountain ranges that touch the heavens and vast, desolate landscapes. Nestled in the heart of South Asia lies Nepal, home to a significant portion of the majestic Himalayan mountain range, including its crowning jewel, Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak. What often escapes my attention is cutting-edge electric motorcycle technology; however, it appears that a Nepalese company is actually making great strides in this area. Yatri Bikes is poised to unveil its latest innovation, an electric café racer, later this year. As Nepal’s inaugural electric vehicle, the Yatri team is determined to make a lasting impression, boasting a design that not only turns heads but also delivers performance comparable to its gasoline-powered counterparts.

Ashim Pandey, an aerospace engineer, leads Yatri Bikes. Employing his expertise and leveraging the skills of his team, he has successfully designed and developed his company’s inaugural motorcycle, an electric café racer dubbed ‘Mission Zero’, entirely in-house. Ashim aims to revolutionize urban transportation through his venture, Yatri Bikes. To achieve this, they’ve seamlessly merged cutting-edge technology with a refreshingly simple yet stylish sensibility.

The company’s knowledge acquisition strategy, Mission Zero, successfully covers all the necessary bases. Equipped with a 30 kW motor, this device boasts an impressive output of approximately 40 horsepower. While it may not rival top-tier motorcycles in terms of raw power, the Mission Zero’s horsepower is comparable to other designs such as the Kawasaki W800. Despite its limitations, the device truly shines in terms of its ability to generate torque. With a mere twist of the throttle, the engine unleashes its full 120 Nm of torque instantly. Compared to the W800, this output is equivalent to a whopping double the torque, putting its capabilities into stark relief.

With its innovative battery and charging system, Mission Zero stands out in a unique way. While varying voltage is often an Achilles’ heel of electric bikes, on this particular instance, it exceeds expectations for a typical commuter. Yatri suggests that the full cost is reasonable for a 230-kilometre journey, a figure that closely matches the mileage offered by the W800. Through a partnership with battery experts Ion Power, the Mission Zero can be recharged using a standard wall outlet to 80% capacity in just two hours.

The Yatri bike features an innovative display that presents efficiency data in a stylish and modern format, catering to riders with a keen sense of aesthetics. Positioned atop the gasoline tank, a sleek and modern 7-inch full-color touchscreen display. The display screen provides a versatile platform for presenting essential driving metrics, including speed and variate, alongside navigation data and additional functionalities. The innovative world of smart biking is revolutionizing the way we interact with our two-wheeled companions! A cutting-edge cell app allows homeowners to seamlessly connect with their bikes via wireless technology, unlocking a wealth of real-time information and transforming the cycling experience.

Mission Zero’s sleek styling embodies Yatri’s “Class in Movement” design ethos, perfectly capturing the essence of fluid motion. Premium supplies, a sophisticated colour palette, and crystal-clear, fashion-forward design elements set this e-bike apart from its competitors in the market. While clearly drawing inspiration from cafe racers’ aesthetic, The sleek and streamlined cafe racer presents a refined silhouette, boasting a clean, minimalist design and an assertive driving position that exudes confidence on the road. Additionally, the cafe-style motorcycle features classic design elements, including clip-on handlebars, rear-set footpegs, a chrome-finished mirror, and iconic spoked wheels. A closer examination reveals a select few premium components sourced from renowned brands such as Brembo and Motogadget.

The initial target launch date for Yatri’s innovative electrical cafe racer was slated for March, but the unforeseen consequences of the pandemic have necessitated a postponement.
