Bike Of The Day: NorStar Cafe Racer
SHARE

The 2004 NorStar Café Racer, a bespoke creation of Dave Smith Traditional Bikes in Plainfield, Illinois. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, the bespoke bicycle features a stunning silver-finished alloy framework wrapped around a sleek black powder-coated Norton Manx featherbed chassis, meticulously modified to house a powerful 611cc BSA Gold Star four-stroke single engine, its performance further refined through strategic bore and stroke adjustments.

Expertly paired, the engine harmonizes seamlessly with a bespoke BSA transmission, bolstered by a precision-crafted Triumph five-speed gearbox. The bespoke features of this vehicle include Excel alloy rims, stainless steel spokes, a Fontana four-leading-shoe entrance drum brake, and a Manx conical rear brake hub, collectively enhancing its exceptional stopping power. The bike features a meticulously restored Manx fork, adjustable Hagon shocks, and vintage-inspired swan-neck clip-on handlebars, allowing for precise handling and an authentic ride experience.

The comfortable RK Leighton bump seat boosts the motorcycle’s performance, while the Smiths Chronometric gauge system provides authentic, precision-accurate readings for a traditional yet efficient riding experience. The Unity Equipe’s rear-set foot controls enhance management, complemented by the convenience of its built-in heart rate stand. The NorStar café racer serves as a testament to meticulous design, seamlessly integrating its various components into a cohesive and harmonious whole.
