According to a recent report by BloombergNEF, it was actually the CEO of Volkswagen Group, Herbert Diess, who hinted that the electric vehicle (EV) market might be showing signs of slowing down. In an interview with German newspaper Handelsblatt, Diess stated that while the overall trend towards electrification remains strong, he believes there may be a temporary plateau in the growth rate of EV adoption. Not for BMW. As the luxury automotive industry accelerates towards a more sustainable future, the esteemed brand finds itself racing ahead of its prestigious peers – Porsche, Audi, and Mercedes – in the burgeoning market for electric vehicle sales. BMW solidified its dominance in the electric vehicle market as electric car sales skyrocketed in the second quarter.

BMW’s momentum accelerates: Electric vehicle deliveries soar in Q2.

As luxury stalwarts Mercedes, Porsche, and Audi faltered, BMW solidified its position, with electric vehicle sales soaring 22% in the second quarter.

BMW Group delivered almost 108,000 electric vehicles in the second quarter of 2024. The BMW Group’s electric vehicle (EV) sales have seen a significant surge, with a 24.6% increase over the past year, reaching 190,622 deliveries in total.

BMW’s electric vehicle (EV) sales led the charge, surging 34% in the first half of 2024. During the initial half-year period, BMW has successfully delivered 179,557 fully electric vehicles. BMW’s model gross sales surged 2.3% in the first half of 2024, as the brand continued to surpass its luxury competitors in terms of market performance.

Porsche’s electric vehicle (EV) sales nosedived following a 51% slump in Taycan deliveries during the first six months of the year, sparking concerns about the brand’s transition to electromobility. Porsche’s latest announcement sees the introduction of its revamped 2025 Taycan and the all-new Macan Electric, signaling a significant shift in the brand’s electric vehicle offerings.

Mercedes-Benz revealed a 25% decline in electric vehicle (EV) sales, with just 45,800 units delivered in the second quarter.

Meanwhile, Audi’s electric vehicle (EV) sales have stagnated in Q2, while Volkswagen is considering shuttering its Brussels plant due to sluggish demand for Audi’s Q8 e-tron and Sportback models.

BMW anticipates sustained momentum as it launches its latest electric vehicle (EV) models, including the highly anticipated i4 sedan and iX2 crossover. BMW aims to solidify its position by introducing the innovative Neue Klasse electric vehicles, complemented by a competitively priced 1 Series EV, as it strives to attract fresh customers.

Tesla insiders say Elon optimized Full Self-Driving routes for himself and influencers

The L3+ capabilities on L2 hardware are a game-changer for network administrators seeking to optimize their infrastructure without breaking the bank. By leveraging existing L2 hardware, organizations can enjoy significant performance boosts at a fraction of the cost of upgrading to full-fledged L3-capable devices. With L3+ capabilities on L2 hardware, users gain access to advanced routing features such as OSPF, EIGRP, and RIP, allowing for more efficient network management and better utilization of existing infrastructure. The benefits don’t stop there – this technology also enables the implementation of VLANs, allowing for greater segmentation and increased security within the network. Of course, the cost savings are a major draw for organizations looking to stretch their IT budgets. By reusing existing hardware, organizations can allocate funds elsewhere or simply enjoy a lower overall expenditure on networking infrastructure. What do you think about L3+ capabilities on L2 hardware?
