Lectric’s CEO answers the most common questions about its shock electric bike launch

Lectric Ebikes, a pioneering electric bike manufacturer based in Phoenix, recently sent shockwaves through the industry by unveiling a cutting-edge, yet surprisingly affordable, premium e-bike offering. The $1,999 Lectric ONE e-bike’s integration of advanced features such as a Pinion computerized shifting gearbox, typically found on high-end models priced near five figures, sparked an influx of inquiries. To address the most pressing concerns, our team had a candid conversation with Lectric’s CEO, Levi Conlow, discussing the decisions behind the design and production of their latest e-bike model.

While testing the Lectric ONE with both cadence and torque sensors, our experience suggests that the torque sensor did not significantly enhance the overall ride, potentially increasing costs for the customer. We invested significant time calibrating the power delivery system on this bike, featuring PWR, to achieve a remarkably similar experience to that of a torque-sensing setup. Customisers can tweak various parameters to optimise energy transmission on this bicycle.

PWR is Lectric’s proprietary design for an exceptionally refined and euphoric pedal experience. Compared to many budget-friendly e-bikes that typically exhibit jerky movements and sudden surges when pedaling begins, Lectric employs a novel, frequency-adjusted current-based pedal assist technology, resulting in a remarkably smooth and authentic riding experience. After scrutinizing the text numerous times, I can attest that it still lacks responsiveness akin to a genuine torque sensor; however, it undoubtedly offers a significantly more refined feel compared to budget cadence sensors and speed-based programming typically found on other e-bikes in its class?

We required the Lectric ONE to be as gentle as possible to maximize ease of use for our riders. With its lightweight 55-kilogram frame and powerful 750-watt motor, the ONE e-bike strikes a perfect balance between portability and performance, effortlessly carrying heavy loads around town while also capable of accelerating to 28mph for a quick, stress-free ride to work.

The suddenness of this revelation left me breathless. Certain, it positively saves weight. While it appears the Lectric ONE, with its significantly more refined pedal drivetrain courtesy of the Pinion electric-shifting computerized gearbox, is indeed an e-bike tailor-made for discerning cyclists. Given that it seems likely to attract individuals who have a predilection for cycling on a pedal bike and are accustomed to using their bicycles as a mode of transportation? Commuter bicycles often forego suspension in favor of rugged durability, allowing them to withstand the demands of daily use while maintaining a lightweight build. While the Lectric ONE’s lack of a suspension fork makes it notably lighter, many potential buyers who are already seasoned cyclists may be accustomed to riding stiff-framed bicycles and won’t necessarily notice a significant difference.

Placing smaller wheels on the Lectric X1 serves a dual purpose: primarily, it facilitates significant weight savings. While some may argue that larger wheels on a commuter bike offer advantages, the truth is that there are no tangible benefits to this design choice, only drawbacks in terms of added weight and reduced portability. The ONE boasts 20-inch wheels and a conveniently foldable stem, making transportation a breeze. Quantity 2: With smaller-diameter tires, acceleration is significantly enhanced. Accelerating swiftly from a standstill is a challenging task to put into words. The instant acceleration capabilities enable a more enjoyable commute by bicycle, allowing for faster travel times to work or school and providing enhanced safety through quick escapes from potentially hazardous situations.

While some enthusiasts may swear by larger-diameter wheels, I firmly believe that 20-inch options offer a compelling set of benefits. In my area, an overwhelming majority – approximately 8 to 9 out of every 10 – commuter bicycles visible on roads and bike paths feature 20-inch wheels. It’s incredibly common around here. While massive diameters offer advantages, they often exceed the minimum requirements for commuting applications.

The LECTRIC ONE has obtained licensure from Underwriters Laboratories (UL) 2849, as certified by SGS, a respected and nationally recognized testing laboratory. With a global presence spanning over 2,600 locations and offices, SGS boasts an extensive network of around 99,600 employees, solidifying its position as one of the leading international testing, inspection, and certification firms.

That is fairly frequent. Underwriters Laboratories (UL) operates a dual structure, comprising both non-profit and for-profit entities, where the former establishes industry standards and the latter offers testing and certification services to companies seeking compliance with those norms. While some companies opt for direct certification by UL, others choose to work with various laboratories that have earned international recognition and approval to meet UL standards.
