Ford’s electric vehicle (EV) gross sales surged 61% in the second quarter, propelling the company’s growth. Ford solidified its position as the top US electric vehicle (EV) seller outside of Tesla in the second quarter, with almost 24,000 units sold, surpassing General Motors for the second consecutive period and narrowing the gap with market leader Tesla.

Ford’s electric vehicle (EV) gross sales experience significant growth in the second quarter of 2024.

Ford acquired 23,957 electric vehicles during the second quarter of 2024, representing a 61 percent surge from the same period in 2023, when it sold 14,843 units.

Ford’s hybrid sales soared by 55%, while internal combustion engine sales plummeted 5% in a significant shift driven by the growing demand for electric vehicles.

Ford’s electric vehicle (EV) sales experienced a significant year-over-year increase, with gross sales rising by double digits. Ford F-150 Lightning sales soared 77% to 7,902 units. As of June, the Lightning continued to dominate the US electric truck market, with a staggering 15,645 units sold, despite the arrival of newcomers like the Tesla Cybertruck and Chevrolet Silverado EV RST on the scene.

Ford Mustang Mach-E sales have surged by a remarkable 46%, with an impressive total of 12,645 units sold. The Mustang Mach-E achieved its highest first-half production total since its introduction, with 22,234 units delivered.

Ford’s electric van, the E-Transit, continues to gain traction, as gross sales rose by a staggering 96 percent year-over-year to 3,410 units sold during the second quarter.

Ford’s Electric Vehicle (EV) gross sales reached 34,000 units in the second quarter of 2024, representing a significant surge of 142% year-over-year. The automaker also reported a substantial 114% increase in EV sales for the first six months of the year, with a total of 63,000 units sold. This remarkable growth underscores Ford’s commitment to electrification and its efforts to capitalize on the growing demand for eco-friendly vehicles.

Ford successfully maintained its lead in the US EV market against rival GM following a significant expansion. General Motors reported a delivery total of 21,930 electric vehicles (EVs) in the second quarter, bringing its cumulative tally to 38,355 units as of the first half of 2024.

General Motors is poised to significantly boost production with its latest lineup of innovative vehicles, including the highly anticipated Chevy Blazer, Equinox, and Silverado EV models, all set to make a splash in the market.

Despite lacking regional details, Tesla exceeded forecasts by successfully delivering 443,956 electric vehicles in the second quarter.

As rivalry intensifies among top brands like Hyundai and Kia, others join forces to achieve record-breaking electric vehicle (EV) sales in Q2, marking a significant milestone in the competitive US market.

Hyundai acquired a significant volume of IONIQ 5 vehicles in the second quarter, with total first-half sales reaching 18,728 units. As orders for Kia’s inaugural electric SUV with a third row, the EV9, continue to surge, gross sales are picking up momentum.

CEO Jim Farley recently announced that Ford will be transitioning to produce smaller, more affordably priced electric vehicles in an effort to close the gap with Tesla and stay competitive against other global players like BYD. According to Farley, smaller electric vehicles are deemed “tremendous essential” for societal needs, amidst America’s affinity for larger, more powerful cars.
