MAHLE, a leading manufacturer of e-bike drive systems and subsidiary of the renowned MAHLE Group, has unveiled its cutting-edge electric bicycle motor system, the MAHLE X30.
As excitement builds, we’ve tracked the rollout of MAHLE’s revolutionary drive system, which debuted in 2022 as the “lightest e-bike drive system on Earth”, dubbed the X20.
The X35 model’s versatile design makes it a suitable choice for both lightweight and high-end electric bicycles.
The e-bike powertrain manufacturer has unveiled its latest innovation: the X30 system.
The Mahle X30 features a newly designed hub motor, which provides 45 Nm of torque while weighing only 1.9 kilograms (4.2 pounds). A marginal design in electrical bike motors.
As the corporate defined:
“The MAHLE X30 has established a benchmark in the industry, revolutionizing the market for lightweight e-bike systems with its exceptional performance.” Its exceptional expertise makes it an ideal choice for all riders, regardless of their terrain, from highways to city streets and track conditions. Even suitable for youthful e-bike enthusiasts.
The balance of the innovative X30 system comprises MAHLE’s cutting-edge battery, a user-friendly human-machine interface, and various high-performance electrical components.
The X30 motor seamlessly integrates with MAHLE’s existing range of X20 components and technologies.
Utilizing the same MAHLE EX1 exterior battery, specifically engineered to seamlessly integrate into a water bottle-style holder, this system provides 171 Wh of capacity, enabling a maximum range of up to 60 kilometers or 37 miles.
While the battery’s size might not seem substantial at first glance, its compact dimensions come with a significant advantage: reduced weight, as the 1.1 kg (2.4 lb) addition to the bike is surprisingly light.
Mahle’s hub motor technologies have become industry standards among lightweight, high-end European e-bike manufacturers seeking a premium hub motor solution without compromising their brand reputation by using a Chinese-made motor that may compromise their product’s perceived value.
Headquartered in Germany and boasting a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Slovenia, MAHLE proudly showcases its European heritage by offering bespoke design solutions that culminate in the development of cutting-edge, lightweight e-bike drives – a benchmark in both mid-drive and hub motor-powered systems.
