Ferrari is set to unveil its inaugural electric vehicle next year, with a potential offer of an extended warranty on the battery to alleviate concerns among customers contemplating the switch from fossil fuels to electricity. This initiative may also create a fresh revenue stream for the company.

According to sources familiar with the matter, Bloomberg has reported that Ferrari is preparing to offer extended battery warranties for all its forthcoming electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid models.

According to the report, a one-year subscription-based guarantee is proposed, priced approximately at €7,000 ($7,500) annually. It will cover all points related to sustaining a battery, including defects associated with the battery.

The system will also include regular battery replacement schedules every eight years, ensuring no significant decline in performance throughout the vehicle’s lifespan. For Ferrari, maintaining their vehicles’ value over extended periods is crucial.

Ferrari’s current lineup of vehicles comes with a standard three-year manufacturer’s warranty. For hybrid fashion products, this warranty is extended to a period of five years, covering both the battery and its associated components. According to Bloomberg’s sources, Ferrari’s electric vehicles can achieve the same level of safety protection as their conventional counterparts.

Most manufacturers of electric vehicles (EVs), including pure-play EV companies such as Rivian and Tesla, typically offer warranties on their batteries lasting around eight years.

While Ferrari has been relatively tight-lipped about its inaugural electric vehicle (EV), the automaker has confirmed that it will debut in late 2025, with initial production expected to commence in the following year. Regarded as a low-slung SUV akin to Ferrari’s V-12-powered Purosangue, it is reportedly valued at over $500,000, according to a recent Reuters report. This limited-edition Ferrari will be among its most valuable models, produced at great cost without any production constraints.

The production of electric vehicles (EV) by the manufacturer, potentially including future models currently in development, could take place at a newly established facility called E-Constructing, located adjacent to Ferrari’s existing plant in Maranello, Italy. Ferrari’s flexible production capabilities enable the manufacturer to build a range of vehicles, including gasoline, hybrid, and electric models, thereby allowing for greater control over supply based on fluctuating market demands.

The new plant’s capabilities are expected to enable Ferrari to significantly boost its annual production to approximately 20,000 vehicles, a substantial increase over the current 14,000.
