New Xpeng P7 interior leaked, up to 820 km range

XPeng gears up for the launch of its all-new, state-of-the-art electric P7 sedan, with recent spy shots and regulatory filings shedding light on significant design, technological, and performance enhancements over its precursor. Introducing the revolutionary new electric vehicle from Xpeng, slated for release later this year: a futuristic mannequin boasting a bold reimagining, cutting-edge AI-powered driving capabilities, and an impressive range of up to 820 kilometers on a single charge.

The interior features Xpeng’s latest design cues, exemplified by a sleek, flat-bottomed multifunctional steering wheel and a prominent, hovering central display. Two Wi-Fi-enabled cellphone charging stations are conveniently integrated into the entry console, while front-seat passengers enjoy premium, built-in bucket seats with a sporty flair. The gear selector has transitioned to a more convenient and intuitive steering column-mounted configuration.

Rafik Ferrag, French fashion designer, has undertaken a comprehensive makeover of the exterior aesthetic. The latest P7 boasts an advanced angular design, distinguished from its predecessor P7i by a more streamlined, coupe-inspired aesthetic, featuring concealed door handles, seamless frameless windows, and a dynamic fastback profile. The entrance fascia boasts XPeng’s iconic full-width LED daylight operating light, now complemented by more defined headlamp elements and an assertive bumper design that exudes a stronger visual presence. The rear design echoes the front’s aesthetic with a continuous taillight bar, complemented by a retractable spoiler that enhances aerodynamic performance.

The vehicle measures 5,017 millimetres in length, 1,970 millimetres in width, and 1,427 millimetres in height, boasting a 3,008 millimetre wheelbase. Compared to its predecessor, the upgraded P7i boasts increased length and width, but marginally reduced dimensions. The new model will likely come equipped with either 20-inch or 21-inch wheels, offering the option to mix and match front and rear tires in a staggered fitment arrangement for enhanced performance.

The powertrain options boast a single-motor rear-wheel drive configuration alongside a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup. The rear-wheel-drive variant is equipped with a potent 270 kW motor, offering the option to pair it with either a 74.9 kWh or a larger 92.2 kWh battery pack for enhanced performance and range. Spanning approximately 625 to 820 kilometers, the CLTC’s range varies significantly depending on its configuration. The electric powertrain features a dual-motor configuration, combining a modest 167 kW front motor with a more potent 270 kW rear motor.

The P7’s most impressive feature is its integration with Xpeng’s proprietary Turing AI chip, a technology also utilized in the innovative Xpeng G7. The Xpeng G9 boasts an advanced, purely vision-based Advanced Driver-Assistance System (ADAS) that enables intuitive city and freeway navigation through its unique Navigation Guided Pilot (NGP) capabilities, effectively rivaling Tesla’s Navigate on Autopilot feature.

XPeng will offer a bespoke edition of its vehicle featuring the distinctive scissor-style entrance doors that have become synonymous with the brand, dubbed the “Peng Wing” variation. The new vehicle design will enable customers to personalise their ride with bespoke options for carbon-fibre-effect skirt panels, exterior trim accents, and mirror covers. The Peng Wing model also features a unique rear glass treatment and specialized body kits that likely served as promotional tools or media props.

In the highly competitive Chinese market for premium electric sedans, the revamped P7 is poised to take on stalwarts like the Xiaomi SU7, which starts at a reasonable 215,900 yuan or approximately $31,400 USD, given its impressive features and performance capabilities. 29,700 USD). Pricing for the updated XPeng P7 has yet to be announced; nevertheless, industry insiders expect it to remain comparable to the previous P7i model, with a starting price of approximately 199,900 yuan. 27,500 USD).
