Mazda starts delivering its EZ-60 electric SUV to Chinese dealerships for showroom displays. Mazda collaborated with Chinese automaker Changan Auto to develop the vehicle. Prospective customers can now visit EZ-60 showrooms in major Chinese cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Chengdu.

While maintaining its underlying design cues from last year’s Arata concept, the new manufacturing prototype showcases a refined iteration of the original model, featuring practical air vents seamlessly integrated into the D-pillars to enhance aerodynamic performance. A revolutionary violet exterior colour option leverages cutting-edge pigments that shift their appearance in response to varying lighting conditions. Inside the luxurious vehicle, a 26.45-inch curved touchscreen takes center stage alongside a 100-inch augmented reality head-up display, while opulent Nappa leather seats boast an array of features including heating, ventilation, and soothing massage functions.

Mazda offers a dual-powertrain lineup in China, catering to diverse customer preferences. The all-electric model features a powerful 190 kW motor and advanced CATL lithium-iron-phosphate battery, delivering an impressive 600 km range on a single charge under China’s CLTC testing cycle, backed by rapid 800V charging capabilities. A more advanced version integrates a compact power pack with a 1.5-litre petrol engine, enabling an impressive total range exceeding 1,300 kilometres.

The EZ-60 boasts a suite of China-centric features, including voice recognition capabilities tailored to various regional dialects, seamless integration with popular local apps such as WeChat. Enhanced security measures are specifically designed to address the unique challenges of Chinese urban environments, featuring advanced pedestrian and cyclist detection capabilities that foster a safer streetscape. The physique’s construction leverages an extensive utilization of ultra-high-strength metals, incorporating 2000 MPa components in critical zones.

Mazda has introduced a progressive deposit program to attract eager buyers ahead of schedule. Prospects pay a 10-yuan online deposit to secure their auto purchase financing, which grows by 10 yuan daily. Additional incentives are available for completing specific tasks as assigned. These accumulated funds must be utilized to purchase a car within seven days, otherwise they will be refunded. Pre-orders are locked in within three days of the automotive’s formal launch, at which point all accumulated funds will be deducted from the final purchase price. Bonuses are forfeit upon cancellation of the order; each cellphone number can participate only once in this program.

Mazda has garnered more than 20,000 bookings in China since introducing its electric vehicle reservation program in April, with a notable surge of interest in the range-extender variant. The Changan EZ-60 is currently available for viewing at Changan Mazda dealerships, with test drive opportunities scheduled to begin in July ahead of its official launch. The first customer deliveries are slated for August. By 2026, Mazda intends to expand its electrified offerings globally, introducing customized versions of the EZ-60, rebranded as the Mazda CX-6e, across various markets.
