Nió officially debuts the revamped ET5 and ET5 Touring trims, boasting a comprehensive suite of more than 500 upgrades across aesthetics, comfort, intelligence, and performance. The typical model equipped with a 75 kilowatt-hour battery has a price tag of approximately 298,000 yuan, or around 41,100 US dollars. For an upfront payment of $31,500 or 228,000 yuan, a battery rental option is available, while monthly leasing fees start at $100 or 728 yuan.

The visually stunning ET5 and ET5 Touring boast refined front-end styling, featuring cutting-edge ADB multi-beam headlights and sleek, redesigned double-dash LED daytime running lights complemented by a more dramatically sculpted hood. The ET5 debuts a novel “sunset purple” exterior hue, whereas the ET5 Touring introduces a sophisticated “moonlight silver.” Both models boast reimagined shiny black trim on bumpers, skirts, diffusers, and 20-inch five-spoke wheels featuring aerodynamic inserts to minimize drag.

The all-new Inside upgrades boast a stunning 15.6-inch high-definition AMOLED display, a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster that puts crucial information at your fingertips, a massive 50-inch augmented reality (AR) heads-up display that redefines the driving experience, and a state-of-the-art digital rearview mirror for unparalleled visibility. Three fresh interior design motifs have emerged: purple, pearl grey, and a versatile gray. Nió has further elevated the driving experience by upgrading the seating to a sophisticated 11-layer comfort system, featuring two-piece seat cushions and premium high-resilience foam, thereby significantly enhancing overall comfort and ergonomic support. The rear seat assist size has been extended by 75mm; to enhance occupant comfort, infrared-resistant laminated glass is applied to the side windows, while a dual-silver-coated panoramic roof provides up to 99% IR rejection for a cooler cabin environment.

Nio’s newly developed NX9031 chip serves as the power source for its latest creations, boasting processing capabilities equivalent to those of four top-tier industry chips. Fitted with a comprehensive 29-sensor suite, complemented by a sophisticated 300-line equilibrated LiDAR and advanced 4D imaging radar, this system enables premium driver assistance capabilities. The vehicles enable seamless, domain-aware lane-level navigation through the application of Nio’s proprietary World Model, which leverages predictive driving behavior and advanced scene understanding capabilities. A significant Over-The-Air (OTA) update in late June is scheduled to enable comprehensive guided pilot assistance.

The two all-wheel-drive vehicles retain their dual-motor setup, generating a combined output of 490 horsepower – 150 kilowatts at the front and 210 kilowatts at the rear – while delivering a peak torque of 700 newton meters. Battery options remain unchanged, offering consistent performance with 75 kWh and 100 kWh pack sizes delivering CLTC ranges of up to 585 kilometers for the ET5 and 550 kilometers for the ET5 Touring. Available for short-term rental, the 150 kWh battery pack offers an impressive driving range of up to 1,055 kilometers under CLTC testing conditions.

With the added capability to tow up to 1,400 kilograms and accommodate a 75-kilogram tongue load, the ET5 Touring’s practicality is further underscored. Consolation choices feature 14-way power-adjustable seats with heating, ventilated airflow, and soothing massage functions; a 23-speaker 7.1.4 immersive audio system; twin 50W wireless phone chargers; and an intelligent dimmable panoramic roof (available on the Touring trim only).

Despite modestly higher costs compared to rivals such as the Tesla Model 3 and Zeekr 007, NIO aims to differentiate itself through its technology, comfort, and proprietary features. In April 2025, NIO acquired 2,015 units of its ET5 electric vehicle model, as well as 6,015 ET5 Touring variants, indicating strong demand for the latter’s wagon design.

Tune in next week for our hands-on review of the innovative Nio ET5 Touring wagon.
