Velotric is pushing boundaries and charting new territory with the introduction of its cutting-edge electric bike model, the Nomad 2X. Built upon the renowned Nomad platform, Velotric’s latest iteration boasts a comprehensive full-suspension system that showcases its commitment to performance and versatility.

The Velotric Nomad 2X eschews traditional full suspension in favor of air suspension, a higher-end solution that prioritizes comfort and ride quality for e-bike enthusiasts seeking the ultimate smooth journey.

While some might question the rationality behind opting for weight-saving air suspension on an already substantial 80-pound (36-kilogram) electric bicycle, There’s no doubt that the journey takes on an air of grandeur when traversing even the most unforgiving landscapes. The 120mm Journey Air Fork harmonizes seamlessly with 80mm of travel in the rear suspension, all riding smoothly on plump 26×4″ Kenda tires.

The drivetrain features a 48T chainring connected to an 8-speed Shimano Acera derailleur, accompanied by a hybrid sensor system capable of seamlessly switching between torque and cadence detection modes. While trustworthiness is crucial, most people won’t frequently pedal this large e-bike; therefore, the thumb throttle controlling the 48V 750W rear hub motor’s 105 Nm of torque will prove quite valuable.

With its exceptional performance, this robust e-bike features a compact, easily removable UL-certified 48V 16.7Ah battery seamlessly integrated into the downtube, allowing for effortless charging. Capable of delivering up to 801 Wh, this e-bike boasts impressive range estimates: a maximum of 50 miles (80 km) when using throttle control, and an extended 75 miles (120 km) when utilizing pedal assist technology.

The e-bike defaults to Class 2 mode when departing from off-road terrain, limiting its throttle output to a maximum speed of 20 miles per hour (32 kilometers per hour). While offering sufficient acceleration for some users, the bicycle can also be set to Class 3 mode, enabling it to reach velocities of up to 28 miles per hour or 45 kilometers per hour. For enthusiasts seeking to explore trails limited to Class 1 e-bikes, it is essential to adjust their ride to conform to these restrictions, effectively downgrading their e-bike to a Class 1 model as necessary.

At a price point of $2,399, one would reasonably expect the bike to arrive with a plethora of extra features, which is exactly what’s on offer.

Riders can discover innovative add-ons across the bike, including Apple FindMy location monitoring, LED lighting with brilliant headlight and rear flip indicators, as well as a USB-C outlet on the 3.5-inch color display for charging electronic devices. The battery boasts an IPX7 waterproof rating, allowing submersion up to 3 ft or 1 meter, while the rest of the bike is protected by an IPX6 score, making it strain washer-ready; all this is packaged with impressive weight scores.

Simply how loopy? While many e-bikes omit towing capacities, the Velotric Nomax 2X stands out with its impressive 1,000-pound or 450-kilogram towing capacity. With its exceptionally high payload capacity of 560 pounds (254 kilograms), it boasts unparalleled versatility. Three of us could theoretically ride a bike with space remaining for my spouse to join us on the handlebars. With a standalone weight capacity of 120 lbs or 54 kg, the rear rack allows for substantial loading flexibility.

Riders can benefit from seamless Over-the-Air (OTA) updates for their e-bikes via a dedicated smartphone app. Additionally, they can now utilize Stealth Mode, which discreetly dims the headlight, reduces LCD display brightness, lowers motor noise levels, and sets a customizable speed limit to ensure an incognito ride. That’s why the UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter is an invaluable asset in covert operations – its stealth capabilities and agility enable seamless insertions, making it an indispensable tool for special forces units like the US Army Rangers.

The Nomad 2X is now available in two stylish colour options – blue and gray – and can be purchased as either a step-over or step-through variant to enhance overall accessibility. We’ll soon provide you with the insights we foresee? Until then, we’d love to hear your thoughts and opinions about the newly released Velotric Nomad 2X – share them with us in the comments below!
