Geely has achieved a significant manufacturing milestone as the 200,000th Geely Geometry A electric vehicle was produced and rolled off the assembly line. Positioned as a budget-friendly metropolis electric vehicle, the Xingyuan competes with BYD’s popular Seagull in China’s entry-level electric car market.

The Geome Xingyuan’s starting price stands at 68,800 yuan, approximately $9,550 USD, before incentives. The vehicle is offered with two motor options: a 58 kW variant delivering a certified low-temperature cycle (CLTC) range of 310 kilometers and an 85 kW model providing a 410 km CLTC range. Compared to other vehicles in its class, this model offers customers a wider range of options for customization.

The Xingyuan’s exterior embodies Geely’s signature rounded front-end aesthetic, boasting a total length of 4,135mm, width of 1,805mm, and height of 1,570mm, with a wheelbase measuring 2,650mm. The generous interior layout yields a surprisingly roomy atmosphere, especially at the rear, outpacing its peers such as the BYD Seagull in terms of comparable vehicles. The mannequin offers various exterior colour options, including pink and blue hues, while also featuring semi-concealed door handles and a hatchback-inspired rear design.

The interior features an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster as standard, paired with a 14.6-inch central touchscreen available on request, running on the Flyme Auto OS platform. Various features comprise a comprehensive suite of innovative technologies, including a 540-degree digital camera system, heated seating for ultimate comfort, wireless charging capabilities, and an advanced pedestrian alert system that leverages external audio cues. Driving modes tailored to specific scenarios, including outdoor applications, have also been incorporated.

All powertrain variants are equipped with high-quality lithium iron phosphate batteries from leading supplier Contemporary Amperex Technology Limited (CATL). The device supports rapid recharging, capable of replenishing its power from 30% to 80% in approximately 21 minutes. The 85 kW model accelerates from 0 to 50 km/h in just 3.9 seconds, boasting a competitive edge among its entry-level peers with regards to its extended range capabilities.

As the company’s production milestone reaches 200,000 units, its iconic electric vehicle is solidifying its position as a household name in the rapidly growing EV market. With its competitive pricing, extensive options, and customizable configurations, the Xingyuan offers a compelling alternative to the BYD Seagull for budget-conscious consumers seeking a more comprehensive range of features in an affordable electric vehicle.
