Mazda has introduced the EZ-6 Sports Edition in China through its joint venture with Changan. Drawing on expertise from Mazda’s global teams in Japan, China, and Europe, the model seamlessly blends unique design elements with a choice of two electrified propulsion systems. The dimensions are as follows: the overall length measures 4,921 millimeters; its width amounts to 1,890 millimeters; the height reaches 1,485 millimeters; and the wheelbase spans an impressive 2,895 millimeters.

The EZ-6’s exterior design is characterized by a familiar Mazda grille and an innovative split-structure headlight arrangement, where the main beams are nestled beneath the daytime running lights. The bespoke lighting system, dubbed the “Wings of Gentle,” discreetly accommodates a supplementary illuminated Mazda badge. The Sports Activities Edition presents a unique visual identity, featuring black exterior trim and distinctive pink brake caliper covers that distinguish it from other variations.

Within the cabin, luxurious black Alcantara wraps the seats, paired with a pop of contrast from red-black distinction stitching. Blackened accent elements emerge on the central console and air ducts. The design prioritizes subtle visual distinctions over substantial architectural alterations.

Although the EZ-6 Sports Edition specifications have not been announced, we can draw upon the current model for comparison. The mannequin is available in two distinct configurations. The Extended-Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) utilises a 1.5-litre internal combustion engine paired with a powerful 160 kW rear electric motor. Featuring an impressive CLTC-certified range of 1,301 kilometres, it provides ample distance for daily excursions, with an estimated fuel efficiency of approximately 3.6 litres per 100 kilometres. The battery-electric vehicle (BEV) features a powerful 190 kW motor, offering either a 480 km or 600 km range, contingent upon the battery size, as determined by the charging load and temperature cycle. Quick charging enables batteries to swiftly regain 30-80% of their capacity within a quarter hour under ideal conditions.

The interior features a 14.6-inch infotainment screen, a 50-inch high-definition head-up display driven by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 processor, and a premium 14-speaker Sony audio setup. The cabin features 64-color ambient lighting and boasts entrance seats with extended reclining capabilities. The EZ-6 is equipped with an impressive nine airbags, including a far-side airbag, ensuring exceptional safety and compliance with stringent European crash security regulations.

Built upon Changan’s robust EPA structure, the vehicle accommodates multiple electrified drivetrain configurations. The rest of the world is likely to refer to the Mazda EZ-6 as the Mazda6e. The significance of the Mazda EZ-6 Sports Edition should not go unnoticed. We scrutinize every detail with meticulous care to uncover even the smallest nuances on the ground.

Changan Motors, a joint venture between Chinese automaker Changan and Japanese car manufacturer Mazda, has recently entered into a partnership with Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL) to design and produce next-generation vehicles based on CATL’s innovative Cell-to-Chassis (CIIC) architecture. This innovative architecture enables a modular approach by segregating upper and lower body modules, thereby fostering improved efficiency and flexibility in the development of future electric vehicles.
