It’s back: Hyundai IONIQ 5 qualifies for $7,500 tax credit – again!
SHARE

The Hyundai IONIQ 5 welcomed a slew of enhancements and a sporty, rally-inspired XRT trim level for the 2025 model year – but the most significant development for the domestically manufactured Hyundai is likely to be this: the 5 has regained eligibility for the maximum $7,500 federal EV tax credit.

Despite being manufactured at Hyundai’s Georgia facility for the last four months, the 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 remains absent from the EPA’s list of rebate-eligible vehicles. Here’s an updated version:

As the dust settles on its online debut scheduled for May 1st, Hyundai’s sleek electric hot hatch is now back in play with a lucrative rebate offer.

It’s worth noting that lease prospects have previously been able to tap into the motivation under certain circumstances; however, this latest update to the EPA record makes it possible for both money and fee consumers to take advantage of the full Federal incentive, provided they earn less than $300,000 as a married couple filing jointly, less than $225,000 as a head of household, or less than $150,000 as an individual.

With the $7,500 federal tax credit factored in, you can secure a brand-new 2025 IONIQ 5 for a price ranging from approximately $36,575 to $49,475, well within the $80,000 Federal MSRP cap.

Victory lap

To celebrate, Hyundai announced its participation in the prestigious One Lap of America street racing event in collaboration with the track-focused enthusiasts at this week, alongside One Lap veterans Andy Hollis and Tom Suddard, who will campaign a stock, 601-hp 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 N in the Different Fuels class.

“After dominating our class in a gut-wrenching, high-stakes automotive final year, we knew we had to take it to the next level this year: crafting a car that excels in every environment – blisteringly quick, comfortable for long road trips, and supremely successful on the racetrack,” explains Suddard. “Electrification finally enables large-scale energy without sacrificing roadworthiness in a highway vehicle; the IONIQ 5 N is designed to harness this power while maintaining durability and functional capabilities, even under extreme conditions like a week-long endurance race.”

One Lap is widely regarded as one of the most demanding street-legal motorsports competitions globally, where both novice and professional drivers confront each other in a diverse range of stock and heavily modified vehicles, engaging in a series of scored challenges that include timed events on public roads, drag strips, skid pads, and autocross courses.

As rival teams traverse thousands of miles across the country during breaks between competitions, their vehicles’ mettle is put to the test, showcasing the remarkable durability and strength of both the cars and their drivers. Throughout this year, a total of 86 teams from across the country will participate in 17 timed events spread across eight days at renowned racing circuits such as Virginia International Raceway and NCM Motorsports Park.

The Tire Rack One Lap of America is currently under way, allowing enthusiasts to track the Hyundai’s journey in real-time on our website.
