Volkswagen has commenced taking pre-orders for its ID.7 electric sedan in Europe, targeting customers across the continent. The brand’s inaugural electric vehicle, a flagship model, is poised to launch with a starting price around $62,000 (equivalent to €56,995), boasting an impressive estimated range of up to 385 miles (621 km) on the WLTC cycle.

Volkswagen begins taking pre-orders for its new ID.7 electric sedan

Following the launch of ID.7 production at its Emden facility in Germany, Volkswagen has begun accepting pre-orders from European customers.

The ID.7 is the latest addition to Volkswagen’s expanding ID family, which now comprises six members, including the ID.3, ID.4, ID.5, ID.6, and ID.Buzz electric vans.

The upcoming high-performance mid-size electric sedan will debut in two distinct configurations: a professional-grade Professional model and a more luxurious Professional S variant. Meanwhile, the highly anticipated GTX trim promises to deliver a potent combination of power and efficiency, courtesy of its dual-motor all-wheel-drive system.

According to Volkswagen, customers can now reserve the ID.7 Professional at an estimated starting price of around $61,600 (€56,995) The Professional’s 77 kWh battery provides up to 385 miles (621 km) of WLTC range.

The electric motor is situated at the rear, generating a powerful output of 281 horsepower (210 kilowatts) and a substantial 545 Newton-meters of torque. The spacious design allows ample room for passengers to stretch out comfortably, while the luggage compartment boasts a generous capacity of up to 532 liters.

Volkswagen claims that the market launch edition boasts an enhanced feature set, including an augmented reality head-up display, the “Uncover Professional Max” navigation system, distinctive “Hudson” alloy wheels featuring a premium diamond-cut finish, and advanced keyless locking technology.

The ID.7 comes equipped with various standard security features, including Journey Assist, Lane Assist, Emergency Assist, and Space View, among others.

Volkswagen dubs its leading sedan an “efficiency champion”, boasting a design that optimizes aerodynamics across its entire vehicle. This allows for a fuel consumption rate of approximately 16.3-14.1 kilowatt-hours per 100 kilometers, with a driving range exceeding 455 miles.

Despite its substantial length of almost 17 feet, the ID.7 exhibits unexpected agility, boasting a remarkably compact turning radius of just 35.4 feet.

The pioneering electric sedan will boast innovative digital air vents that efficiently circulate temperature-controlled air throughout the cabin, ensuring rapid and precise heating or cooling. A non-compulsory panoramic sunroof is equipped with advanced “good glass” technology, allowing it to seamlessly transition between opaque and transparent states.

This premium inside package includes ergonomically designed seats featuring advanced memory and therapeutic massage capabilities, intuitive entry operation, and ambient LED lighting with a palette of 30 customizable hues.

The Inside Plus Package upgrade features additional safety components, including more airbags, as well as an enhanced audio experience with the Harman Kardon sound system. This premium offering includes twelve speakers plus a dedicated center speaker, producing powerful sound through its 700-watt amplifier and robust subwoofer.

A non-compulsory exterior package is available, featuring LED matrix headlights, privacy-tinted rear windows, and a convenient trunk lid that opens and closes smoothly. The Outside Package Deal boasts a comprehensive suite of features, including Progressive Steering for enhanced handling and DCC Adaptive Chassis Management for optimal ride dynamics.

The ID.7 Professional S is expected to debut in Europe later this year, featuring an 86 kWh battery pack and an impressive range of approximately 435 miles, with a planned North American launch scheduled for the following year.
