The 2022 Kia Sorento PHEV has been recalled due to potential fuel leak issues, which could lead to a fire hazard.

The revised text is: The goal is to mitigate the potential risk of the steering rack causing gasoline leaks in a crash, as per the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). During severe frontal crashes, a phenomenon may occur due to the rearward displacement of the subframe, which in turn pushes the steering column into the gas line, according to the protection company’s explanation. Gas leaks can emanate from fractured pipes and ignite into a blaze in the event of an ignition source’s presence.

The issue was discovered during crash testing of 2026 Sorento PHEV models, all of which share the same entry subframe design as their 2025 counterparts. Kia informed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that it is unaware of any fires, crashes, accidents, or fatalities linked to this issue.

The treatment is a proactive measure, one that Kia has already initiated for autos outside of the affected recall population. Kia will provide a complimentary cowling installation for sellers, who will subsequently receive notification letters advising them of the scheduled installation dates in January. 10, 2025. If you’re a homeowner seeking more information, please contact Kia’s customer support directly at 1-800-333-4542 for additional details. The manufacturer’s reference number for this recall is SC328, as designated by Kia.

This powertrain sends 261 horsepower to all four wheels and provides an estimated. Among the limited options for similar-sized plug-in hybrid crossovers currently available, the Sorento stands out with its assertive persona retained.
