SHARE

Tesla has rolled out a limited deployment of its innovative ‘Megapack Charger’ solution, comprising a Megapack that powers multiple Supercharger stalls on a trailer, specifically designed to facilitate convenient and sustainable travel during peak holiday seasons.

As the terminology may prove challenging to conform with, given Tesla’s existing “Megapacks,” “Megachagers,” and “Superchargers,” not to mention its latest reference to “MegapackChargers.”

Although it’s not an entirely novel creation,

With its megapack-powered cargo hold and a collection of Tesla Superchargers on board? As previously disclosed, Tesla deploys these vehicles to high-traffic Supercharger locations to mitigate wait times during peak periods, such as holidays and special events.

We’ve also spotted one that unfortunately caught fire and burned down last year.

Tesla appears to have built a modest collection of Megapack chargers. The automobile manufacturer has successfully implemented its technology at four distinct locations.

  • Bakersfield, CA
  • Primm, NV
  • El Centro, CA
  • Cambridge, OH

Tesla unveiled a series of images showcasing its network of cellular charging facilities.

Max de Zegher, Tesla’s Head of Charging, shares his insights on the use cases for these innovative products.

The Megapack Chargers boast an impressive 3 MWh capacity, sufficient for rapid recharging of approximately 75 vehicles. The 8 high-power posts, each capable of delivering 250 kW, provide a seamless charging experience. Furthermore, these cutting-edge chargers are intelligently linked to Starlink, ensuring real-time monitoring and control. They are a robust tool for addressing temporary traffic jams and disruptions caused by events like hurricanes. They are recharged overnight by temporarily taking a nearby Supercharger station offline during low-usage periods. While they’re pricey and require significant bandwidth investments, these solutions are crucial for differentiating your business and attracting local customers for the holiday season.

Can Tesla earn capability points at busy Supercharger stations during holiday periods? While planning your journey, consider that you may need to stop briefly at certain Supercharger stations.
